Things have been kind of tense around here, so how about something a little fluffy? :earsgirl:
When you're planning a trip to WDW, or elsewhere, are there certain things you always do?
For me, before a trip, I always buy new socks and underwear. Somehow it seems to add an extra freshness to the vacation! At the very least, it means I'm stocking up and replenishing my supply on a fairly regular basis.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who does that!! :o :D Anyone?
The other thing that has to be done, is getting my teeth cleaned! Since I get it done every 3 months, I can usually arrange it just before a trip. I realize I might be alone on this one....:o Anyone?
There's something special about starting out on a trip with new underwear, socks, clean gums, and pearly whites!! :teeth:
Who's next? :sunny:

We go to the bookstore, so we'll have fresh books for the car/plane. Last time we did a driving trip, we bought the second edition of the Darwin Awards. If we saw someone driving like a candidate, I would read one aloud. Made the time go faster, and took the stress out of "road rage" incidents.
I've also started creating trip books - a binder with stage by stage plans, driving instructions, reservation info, etc. I use it to record notes through the trip, and have vinyl pockets added for brochures, tickets, and other little souvenir type things. By the time we're home, it's a nice reminder of the trip.

both boys and dh have new T's to wear (got some great end of summer sale stuff)
I will also go get us each a new book to read while we are away.

I always buy DD new underwear and socks! And since we missed our 3 month trip, she is in desperate need of new ones and won't be getting any until the end of October!
As for me, I have to go to Victoria Secrets to get my new supply!LOL
DD also has to pick the most worn out running shoe so that when she gets her new pair, she just gets rid of the old ones!
This upcoming trip will be different!
I will have to pack a few different items, like coffee, filters, etc.! It will be so nice to wake up and make a pot of coffee instead of heading to the food court in my PJ's! Hey, at least I wear Tink ones!LOL

I thought I was the only one who bought new socks for a trip  I usually get a pack of Whitestrips and use them up just before the trip so my teeth will look brighter :)

Oh bless you, Vicky!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who wants pearly whites before a trip!! You never know when you'll have to 'say cheese!', right? :teeth: ;)
Victoria's Secret, Janet? :smooth: I've been shopping at the bland old Bay! Hmmm...maybe it's time to crank things up a notch! :scratchin Oh, forget that, I'm too old!! :p
B&B'sMom, 5 weeks till your trip? Sure, go ahead, it's not too early to start packing! Sounds like you got yourself some great deals!! ::yes:: :D
Morticia, I usually keep a small journal with me, and record things as I go along, but nothing as thorough as what you do. I think that's great, and I'm going to do a bit more of that next time. Thank you for the inspiration!! :D Kungaloosh to you too! :) You know, I've been to the Adventurers Club, but DH hasn't. Maybe it's time to get him there! ::yes::
Anyone else? :)

You guys crack me up! I am always on the look out for books and travel games for my kids year round. I actually keep alot of it packed in the suitcases so I don't misplace it.I keep our snorkel gear, a deck of cards, other little things I have duplicates of etc... This year my little girl is reading alot so I bought "Mad-Libs" books to pass the time on plane rides. I buy a lot of summer stuff now (at great prices) for mid-winter travel. I try to buy larger sizes for the kids so they will fit for a winter vacation and next summer too. Once I treated myself to a pedicure the day before we went away. NEVER again! My poor feet were raw from this sadistic woman's shaving scraper thing that I could hardly put tham onto the textured bottom of the pool!!!Once I got my hair cut the week I was going away. Never again! The hairdresser I was using at the time had a cocaine addiction that I did not know about. He happened to be very stoned whilst chopping my locks and did a major bad job on my bangs,I looked up and they were about 3 inches above my eyebrows! I am not a vain person, and I just forged ahead but I sure was mad!The hair grew back, by the way. I also do the Crest whitestrips!!!WE should let them know, its a whole new line of marketing for them.:sunny:

We stock up on juice boxes and snacks for the drive. We are partial to marshmallow bannanas and sour keys and we have to brin bubble gum. You know all those good for you things LOL.

Hi:
On our 25th anniv. trip I found these cool black pj's with giraffes and zebras on them, so they were my animal kingdom lodge pajamas.
New socks definitely, the underware I like to get at the outlet store in florida or along the way, (an excuse to hubby for a short shopping stop) and I always have a few brand new on hand. New outfits, capri, blouse or tshirt. Definitely new maps, tour books CAA, for the drive, trip tik etc.
Snacks for the car ride for sure, new runners about a couple months ahead or sandles, I make sure I have them broke in.
Bye.
Deb.

I figure this way I have no reason to avoid being in pictures *lol* ... I also forgot to add that I usually get a haircut and pedicure too. My hair gets pretty thick so I always get my hairdresser to thin it out so I won't feel so hot :)
I agree with Janet! Go for the Victoria's Secret stuff :) I wish they would bring stores to Canada!

A stoned stylist and a sadistic pedicurist....maybe they're related?!? That's terrible, Alohamom!!! Poor you...:(
LOL, Janet, de-fuzzed!!! :p Forgot about that one! Ouchie!! ::yes::
Deb, I like how you matched your pj's to your resort!! ::yes:: Since I'm going to the Swan, should I be looking for something like Bjork's swan get-up??? :smooth: ;)
Okay guys, we may not have Victoria's Secret, but we have places like La Vie en Rose! I wonder if they have anything in flannel? ? :p

I love VS and I wish it would come here! Thank goodness for the catalogue.
La senza has a lot of flannel too and they don't even try to hide it.
I'm also a big baby wipes fan so I stock up on them to take on vacation. I like using them on the plane and in the parks to freshen up. I also buy a new sunscreen stick - it's small, doesn't leak, and keeps me from getting burned :p

yes, new underwear is a must!!LOL. It's my favourite quote,
"I bought new undies, I must be going to Disney!!"
I also get a manicure and pedicure.
Even though they supply them in most rooms I buy shampoo &
bodywash.
This time next year I'll be really excited because my trip would
only be two weeks away!!:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Guess we all pretty much have the same idea. I also get new underwear (comfortable cotton Hanes, though, for me!), a pedicure, a new toothbrush (here I am a retired dental assistant and I never thought about having my teeth cleaned right before a trip ~ I do go to my dentist every 6 months though ~ hmmmm I haven't given those Crest White Strips a try yet....) and a new waterproof mascara so that I don't look like a racoon after riding Spash Mountain or Kali!

As my DH says, I am extremely 'anal' with trip planning, packing and preparations.
WAX, I must get waxed - legs and bikini - shave during the year but this is a must for vacation!!!
Everyone has their hair cut (and dyed-Me & DH ) the weekend before, even the poodle is clipped so she won't be so hot!
Generally I buy new socks here but we splurge on underwear when we arrive, gives me an excuse to shop!!!!
Usually about 2 months before leaving I start preparing a toiletries duffel bag. I purchase everything new and pack some items in baggies such as cotton balls, Qtips, first aid kit, sewing kit. That way we don't use our house supply.
Last trip my husband needed Qtips and wondered if I had packed any. I produced a baggie full and received a strange look. Two days later a button on his shorts popped off. He asked if by chance I had packed a sewing kit in my magic bag. I quickly produced it and began to sew the button back on. Needless to say he was amazed and has never once doubted, complained or critized my 'anal planning' abilites again!!!

Well, I have decided that I am going to take the opposite approach.
I am taking my oldest undies and socks and bras etc with me on vacation and I am just going to pitch them all in the garbage before I leave. That will leave me with lots more space in the luggage to bring home all of the souvenirs :teeth:
Then when I get back I will go shopping to replace all of the things that I have thrown away ;)

Maybe it's the voyeur in me, but after reading this thread I have to admit that there's waaaaay more information here than I needed to know.
I'll go and head back to the corner now...

I usually end up buying new underwear because I don't plan the laundry well enough and while I'm packing never seem to have any that are clean! It then becomes easier to buy some than to complete the laundry. :p
We are in the midst of planning at the moment which is one stage before all out panic which will happen on the 28th as we are leaving on the 29th.
I love the stress that comes from packing cause that means that I'm that much closer to leaving!!!

Admit it, you had no idea new underoos for a trip were that important, and you'll be doing the boxers or briefs buying before your next vacation!!! lol...;)
Okay, I'm stumped, what the heck are ItZaKaDooZies????? Do you wear them, eat them, or wave at them? :earsgirl:

The best ice cream snack is the Nestle Toll House Ice Cream Cookie they sell in the Starlite Cafe to the right of the castle. It is to die for! Does anyone know where I can buy them in Ontario?
I have been looking since I first had one 3 years ago!
January 2003 it was snowing while we were at MK but I still managed to get one down! :p
