This will be my kids' first time flying anywhere. We've always driven (17+ hours) to WDW. Anyway, are there any perks we can get since it's their first flight? (Wing pins? Tour of the cockpit? :) Anything?) Who do we ask? (We'll be flying Southwest.)

Southwest has the little plastic wings that they give to kids. you can ask about looking into the cockpit but can't guarantee if they will do anything special for the kids first flight. you can mentiuon it to the flt attnd.

The second time that my DD went on a transatlantic flight , she was allowed to visit the cockpit while inflight, she even sat down on the captains lap and she loved it but I think it really depends on the airline, I know that the same airline now won't do it because of security reasons. Maybe they will let you peak in before take off if you ask.

Southwest and Continental are the best at giving out the wing pins. Continental FA's also often give the kids activity books. Two of the best airlines (customer service-wise) in my opinion.

They also give out inflatable SW planes. They are cute. I wanted one, but, they said I was too old. LOL

On my son's first flight on Delta he received a wing pin. We got bumped up to business elite class since our bulk head seats were needed for a couple with twins.
This was a transatlantic flight so it was greatly appreciated, but very stressful trying to keep an 18 month old from disturbing the other passengers for 10 hours. I spent alot of my time standing with the fight attendants near the food prep area behind the cockpit since my son only slept for 30 minutes the entire time.
We were able to stand near the door of the cockpit to watch the pilots fly when the flight attendant went into the cockpit.
