We have stayed in the Shoney Inn outside of Nashville and a hotel in Chattanooga (I can't think of the name right now, but it's on the National Hotel Registry). Neither one was that great.

Does anyone have a GREAT hotel they stay in with the kids on the way to WDW from Chicago? We just can't make it in one night driving.

DH gets Marriot points from his work travel and we have driven down a couple of times and stopped at a Marriot in Chatanooga. We have never had a bad stay at a Marriot, but I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly which one we stayed at. We are flying down in October for a quicky trip. I don't like to fly but this time we just don't have enough time to drive. Good luck planning your trip!

and NONE of the hotels you will pass right off the interstate are ones I would recommend BUT....there are some decent small hotels in Murfreesboro (20 minutes south of Nashville) that are pretty much right off the interstate....there is a brand new Wingate Inn, a doubletree, a Fairfield Inn and a Ramada Ltd. It's a nice area and the hotels are mostly 2 stars but they are much cleaner/nicer than what you would see right off the interstate in Nashville. Unfortunately the decent hotels in Nashville aren't off of the interstate you will be on (I-24) they are more off of I-40.

Anyhow, check out hotels in Murfreesboro.

We left at about 2 in the morning and passed through Chicago at around 4-4:30am and made it to Dalton, Georgia where there were a couple of nice hotels. We stayed in the Country Inn and Suites, we have never had a bad experience in one of these hotels. They offer a a nice complimentary breakfast as well. I believe we stayed in one just outside of Chatanooga on the way back as well.
