View Full Version : The Best Theme Park in Orlando?

I recently read on another thread, what I considered to be a ridiculous comment stating that "Universal has the two best theme parks." So disagreeing, I naturally thought it was time for a poll...Of course that was before the DIS quit letting me do what I wanted and made me look silly by authoring a post entitled "I," but I digress...What is, in your opinion, the best theme park in Orlando?

A no brainer- Magic Kingdom...nothing compares to it!

I could reserve my right to change my vote in October.

From what I've read, I'd hold IOA in a High regard....but without ever visiting it, I can't honestly say it's the best.

We'll see...

While I think the best ride in in IOA (Spider Man), my vote for best park goes to Epcot.
I always want to visit that park first.

Here are my rankings:

1. Epcot
2. Magic Kingdom
3. Islands of Adventure
4. Disney-MGM Studios
5. Universal Studios
6. Animal Kingdom

It's been ages since I've been to Sea World, so I cannot fairly rank it. I can't wait to get to Peter Pirate World. But, quite frankly, Captain Crook's Tough Love scares the heck out of me.

Captain Crook,

Since you quoted me as saying "Universal has the two best theme parks." I'd like to know where you got that from. I might have forgotten, but I don't recall making that comment. If you don't mind could you refer us to the post where I said that... or did you just make that up as a self-serving excuse to start this biased poll?

What I have said in the past is that I felt that Universal had the number one theme park which is imho is IOA. I feel MK is the second best, followed by Epcot and then USF.

What I find ridiculous is that you would start a poll on a DISNEY board asking what the best theme park was. You're going to get some nice unbiased results here right? Maybe you should go find a Macintosh board and go ask what they all think is the best computer?

Johare, I think it's a pretty fair poll on a pretty fair site. There are Universal/IOA discussion boards here as well. Barry Hom is the moderator. Plus, there are some pretty heavy USF/IOA advocates on the rumors board - You, FC, HBK, etc. If you find too much bias, you can post a link on the USF/IOA board to the poll and attract some of its regulars.

I, for one, voted very honestly. I think IOA beats two of WDW's offerings hands down. And, I think USF beats AK overall. How many folks more pro-WDW than me can you think of on this board?

I do have fun on these boards, I just get a little defensive when someone refers to a comment I made as 'ridiculous'...especially when I never made the comment to begin with.

As an Orlando resident I enjoy having all 7 of the major theme parks in the area and I think they are all great parks...with the possible exception of AK. I just happen to feel that right now IOA is the #1 park in the area. In my opinion it is the best themed and has the best balance of attractions. I realize that not everyone shares my opinion (8 seem to so far!), but does that mean that my opinion as 'ridiculous' as Captain Crook would imply?

Johare, you're a funny guy (and very serious, I guess)! It seems that I can't quote you as the post has either been deleted or edited (good work). But that's ok, I wouldn't want to have taken credit for the statement either...

Of course I won't take credit for a statement I never made. If the post was edited you would see a little 'last edited' message. It was not deleted. You are an insulting, rude and closed minded person who will obviously make up statements in order to make someone else look bad. You probably think that this makes you somehow look better, but sorry...it doesn't.

As I said before, I like WDW, but I think IOA is the number one theme park. If you find this comment to be ridiculous that's fine. If you have nothing better to do than to twist my comments into something they are not, then that's fine also. I've got far better things to do than discuss this with someone who only values their own opinion and regards other opinions as ridiculous. Enjoy your poll. I'm surprised you even listed non-Disney parks on it.

I'm going to have to agree with my good friend Johare on this one. There is no doubt in my mind that Islands of Adventure is the number one theme park in Florida. I tried to vote twice but they seem to have that voting thing right on this site.

Well, I guess we can rewire Billy!;)

I'm pretty sure I saw that quote in one of your posts recently...now when I go back I can't find it.

Weird.

You are an insulting, rude and closed minded person who will obviously make up statements in order to make someone else look bad.
If you've ever read my posts you would know I am none of those things and no matter what I don't think I deserved that tongue lashing...It almost made me cry! (I can't help it if my humor goes awry now and then) but now that one other person recalls the post perhaps your memory is refreshed?

No, the closest I came to saying what you quoted was when I was refering to Shrek beating Toy Story and Lion King I said that "Disney was 2nd in theme parks". Maybe that's what they remember, but it certainly doesn't come close to what you quoted.

Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that you have no respect for others opinions.

Johare! My quote was in jest. I even called you "my friend" as I often think of my advesaries in these meaningless arguments as friends. I was being light-hearted (although I believe what I quoted). If you feel I have nothing to offer and refuse to listen to others then I guess we have nothing to say to each other. It's sad because I am one person who IS willing to be swayed by good arguement, despite what you think...

Even though the good Captain and I disagree on many, many, many subjects – I hold his opinion in the highest regard. I’ve always found them well supported and well reasoned (even if he does, ah, reach an incorrect conclusion from time to time). And I’ve never read anything that he’s written that’s been insulting, rude or closed minded. We are taking about amusement parks here and this is meant to be a hobby. Treating this like it’s politics or religion just spoils the fun.

Honestly, I don't ever remember making that comment, especially since there is no way I would rate USF above MK or Epcot. I apologize if you think I took it to seriously.

... You may have been a bit hasty!

I am very busy working on a masterpiece response to the Captain. As you are no doubt aware he is wrong almost all of the time.

HOWEVER, I absolutely have to rush to his defense. The Captain and I go back a long, long way. He and I have had many, many conversations. He has always been a gentleman. Mannered, temperate and kind. His sense of humor is outstanding. Strange, but outstanding. I am proud to call him “FRIEND”!! I suggest that you take five, reread it, and remember what AV says. It's only Disney!! Spread some pixie dust!!

Now I’ve really got to get back to slamming him again.

Thanks for listening.

I may have overreacted, however I felt he was being insulting by calling my comment ridiculous, accusing me of deleting my original post and then saying "But that's ok, I wouldn't want to have taken credit for the statement either".

Anyway, there isn't much sense in going back and forth over this so I'm not going to worry about it any longer.

I voted for Epcot but if they don't start refurbishing soon my vote would go to IOA with MK in third then MGM USF and AK in that order...I've never been to Sea World so I can't really rank it..

My order

MK
IOA
MGM
US
AK
Epcot

While I'm not surprised to see MK being #1, I am a little surprised how well IOA and US is doing among those people who have ranked them in order. No political comment intended, I was just expecting most to place US at the bottom of the list rather than one of the Dinsey parks, based on many of the conversations we have here.
