First timer in October - How good is Spooktacular

Hi All

First visit in October hoping to do one of the Spooktackular weekends, I am sure it is going to be busy but would really like to see the Halloween special etc.. and anyway hoping to do SW twice during 2 weeks.

Is it worth the crowds on the weekends. 4 Adults and 3 kids visiting, kids are 11,9 & 7 - is there anything too frightening like the US one.

Does anyone have any tips for the Spooktackular day?

or any tips for a first timer at SW - read something about paying for tours, are these any good and how do we book, on the day or before we visit.

We were at the Spooktacular in Oct 2003 and my children really enjoyed it and are wanting to go again this Oct. We haven't done any of the tours at SW.
