Is there any advantage to having a disney charge card? It has no annual fee, so it wouldn't cost anything to use it.
When I made the camping reservation at Fort Wilderness I was surprised they would only take American Express or Disney charge cards. I had to wait for my confirmation and mail my info for my Mastercard back in. So Disney charge would of been an advantage there.
Do you get any discounts with the disney charge? thanks

No discounts that I know of. A couple of years ago at Christmas time, they had a special if you spent so much on your Disney Charge you got a gift.

I have a Disney CC and the only advantage is that I was able to use it everywhere during our Sept. 2000 trip. I had been saving for a year for the trip, but didn't want to carry lots of cash or Traveler's checks. So, we only carried about $300 in TCs, and I left the rest in the bank (earned a few more pennies interest on it!). I then charged room, meals, souveniers, tickets, etc., on the card during the trip. When the bill came 30 days later, I just paid it in full. Be careful, though, if you don't plan to pay it all off at once......the interest rate is 21%!!

Lynnpooh, when did you make your reservations? We made our Ft Wilderness reservations in late Jan. and I charged it on my Visa card. the CM even made a point to tell me they would accept MC and VISA. I don't remember about Discover Card. Has their policy changed? Thanks! :)

I made my Fort Wilderness campground reservations 2/14/01 for May. My deposit was due be 2/28/01. The way my mail is soooo slow, I was concerned I wouldn't recieve by Confirmation in time for my charge card # and signature to get back to them in time. She told me I could fax my card # and signature, the signature is what was important, they needed it, since I didn't have a disney or American Express charge card. Does anyone know if this is a recent change in policy

They began accepting Discover mid to late last year.

What you have posted is VERY interesting! Disney has NEVER in the past accepted Visa, MC, or Discover when making a deposit on reservations. IF you wanted to use these cards, you had to fax them your signature and the card number.
Did you book through CRO or a travel agent? Although I don't even know if THAT made a difference in the past. Just last October, I made a ressie through DreamsUnlimited and had to fax them my signature and credit card information.
I am wondering if things are changing...

WDW Travel will take Visa and Master Card over the phone for payment. CRO will not.

I am a DC member and made my reservations using the 800# from them. The confirmation I received was from Walt Disney Travel Co. Staying 10 nites in value season for $346.40 including tax. I gave my Visa # over the phone. After receiving my confirmation, I called and requested a fax confirmation of my deposit. Got that 2 days later. Can't wait until we go!!

We just returned from FW last week having previously made reservations with the Walt Disney Travel Co (through a travel agent). We used a Visa card and had no problems.
While at FW we purchased E night tickets (at the front desk of FW) and I used a Visa card.
I don't know if this helps or not, but it appears that Fort Wilderness is taking Visa (oh also at Trails End on numerous occasions) with no questions.

I booked a Disney cruise through Costco and it is being charged to my Discover card. When I get my statements it is billed by Disney Cruise Line and not Costco.

In the past we used are Disney Credit Card just for reserving rooms. They did have the special last Christmas, but there were so many exceptions, we didn't receive a gift - even though we bought a lithograph from Art Store at Disney Marketplace. That didn't count, I guess. Sometimes, in the bill, there will be a special offer - collectible, watch, etc. The one time we used this, though, the watch then came out in the Disney catalog within a month anyway.
Personally, I would rather rack up frequent flier miles instead so I just use my Northwest Visa card.
