Hi gang, :wave2:

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm thinking of trying some new sit-down restuarants this time and I was wondering what y'all suggest. :scratchin

It is my wife's first visit and it is our first anniversary and I'm looking at places for the atmosphere as well the food.

Also, what sit-down places would you avoid? :sad2:

I already have ressies at Boma (based on lots of possitive feedback when I asked about it here), Coral Reef, and Hollywood and Vine. :fish: :drinking1

Thanks for all your help! :earsboy:

When my DW, DS and I went in Feb. '03, we enjoyed the Liberty Tree Tavern at MK. DW had the Pot Roast and I had the Turkey dinner, both were very good.

We also enjoyed the Restaurant Akershus at the Norway Pavillion at Epcot. If you like cold items, you might enjoy this restaurant. They do have hot dishes as well.

Also enjoyed Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club.

If you're looking for someplace out of the parks for an evening, I highly recommend Palio at the Swan! The menu is Italian, the food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is romantic - complete with strolling musicians!

You could make an evening of it and stroll around the Boardwalk after dinner! ::yes::

My favorites:

50s Prime Time Cafe
Mama Melrose
Le Cellier (at Canada in Epcot)

Do not forget about character meals. I took my husband last September for his first trip to the World. We did 5 (yes, 5) character meals and loved most of them. It's also a great way to introduce your first-timer wife into WDW. For character meals, we really liked:

Donald's Breakfastosauras
Crystal Palace

These are fun without children, trust us. The characters interact with the adults too. We did Chef Mickey's on our first evening. While we weren't that crazy about the buffet food, we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

We like Blue Zoo at the Dolphin, Narcoosee's at the Grand Floridian, Yachtsman Steakhouse at the YC, Concourse Steakhouse at the CR, Le Cellier in Canada, Chefs de France, 50's Prime Time Cafe, and Brown Derby.

Which ones to avoid?? I didn't like Big River Grille Brewing Works (or whatever the correct name is). I can't think of another sit down establishment that I just plain didn't like at all.

For atmosphere and food i think 2 of my favorites are Brown Derby ( elegant service but not stuffy and good food) and Lecellier, cozy, darker and romantic imo with good food. imo some of the wdw rest. feel like giant food emporiums but both of these have a little more "split up" feel. we liked artist point but had "snobby" service when we went and so haven't returned but the food was good and that could have just been our particular waiter having a bad night. still want to try C. Grille but that is kind of expensive for me

AVOID the Italian place in Epcot. JMO.

My favorites are:

Coral Reef- great seafood, cool atmosphere. The white chocolate ice cream dessert was to die for.

O'hana's is always a must. Who can argue with 3 foot skewers of meat? And pineapple and carmel to finish the meal?

Tapas at Spoodles is always fun. I've tried to make the feta dip they put on the table with bread...almost have it.

And, of course, Hoop De Doo! It's a blast, plus all you can drink pitchers of beer! Ribs!!! Fried Chicken!!! Strawberry Shortcake!!!

Thanks for all your help guys.

Is drinks and dessert included in the buffet at Ohana's? Also, with the skewers, can you get more then one per table? I love shrimp, but my wife isnt very fussy about it.

Our favorites were Chef Mickeys...atmosphere for the kiddos, but my hubbie and I also loved the food! It is a bit rowdy, but fun.

We also liked Primetime for a giggle and comfort food.

As for counter service, IMHO you can not beat Tusker House at AK.

There was only one experience I did NOT like and that was Hollywood and Vine. I know some folks like it, but I will never eat there again. If I was ever to do the Fantasmic pkg again I would choose the Brown Derby.

Well, if you really wanted a romantic dinner, V&A's is nice. But if that's a little too gourmet for your tastes (I know it's a tad bit too fancy for mine) Artist Point and The California Grill.

Narcoosees (sp??) at the GF is excellent too.

In the parks, Liberty Tree Tavern is great, and IMO, nothing compares to a dinner in the castle to truly make you feel like you are at WDW.

I have yet to eat in an Epcot WS place that was not great. My personal favorite is Marrakesh, my BF's is Biergarten. The only one I'm not crazy about is the Rose and Crown (but that has everything to do with my tastes in food, nothing to do with the place itself...it has great atmosphere!). Le Cellier is great too.

The Brown Derby is really good. I think the Prime Time and the Sci Fi Drive In place at MGM are fun...but maybe not the most romantic places.

Have a great trip!

Personally since it's her first trip I would make dinner reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table. It just can't be beat for Disney Magic in combination with dining in my opinion. What girl isn't charmed by eating dinner in a castle & being able to look out the window & see Fantasyland sparkling in the night. I know that foodies may say it isn't the best place to eat, but I have had great meals & the atmosphere is so wonderful that we go every trip. :smooth:
