I can get very cheap flights from NJ into Tampa, but I'm having trouble finding cheap flights to MCO. I was thinking about flying into Tampa and driving a rental car from there (I'm renting a car anyway). Does anyone know how far of a drive it would be from Tampa to Orlando?

Driving time is about one hour and 30 mins. And about 90 miles.

Depends a lot on traffic and construction. Best case scenario would be about 1 hour 15 minutes. Worst case could be over two hours. I would plan on 1 hour 45 minutes and be pleasantly surprised if I made it faster :)

Thanks! That's not too bad. It's worth the savings in airfare.

I just did this in June. It was not bad at all. Everything was easy to find. I really like Florida's highways. Easily managable and great speed.

We're flying from NJ to MCO in October. If you can go mid-week out of A.C. Airport, you can get cheap flights. That's what we're doing.

We always fly into Tampa because we always combine our Disney trips with a trip to the Gulf coast beaches. It's about a 90 minute drive from the airport to WDW (on average) and the airport itself is well-run. There are plenty of rental car places in the terminal and we never have to wait for our baggage.
In fact, we'll be flying there next Friday!

Just keep in mind that I-4 is under construction. Allow extra time and you will be fine.
