After reading every single menu on Allearsnet.com and all threads from the past year (well not all of them.. but a lot! lol), I decided we'll go to Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner for our anniversary this Saturday. I hope it's good.
Anyone care to share their experiences there?
Thanks :) :)

We had an anniversary dinner there in 2003. DW (a dedicated carnivore) said it was one of the top 5 steaks of her life:D Save room for the dessert sampler::yes:: :earsboy:

We always make a visit to Yachtsman Steakhouse each trip. The food is so good! I always get the filet and have never been disappointed. They bring out 2 or 3 types of bread with butter and this yummy roasted garlic to spread on it. I just have to stop eating it or I will be full!
The service is wonderful there. One server, Oscar, has been there for years and is as good as it gets.
May I suggest making your PS for late in the evening. The restaurant clears out a bit and it is quieter and the pace is slower for a romantic dinner. Be sure to let them know it is your anniversary.

We've always had good meals there. And as a bonus, if you like beer they have the largest selection at WDW.

The meals we have had at the Yachtsman were excellent. For dessert the creme brulee was excellent also.

We too love it! I am not a meat eater but the new bass entree is great. We have gone every trip for the last 7 years and never had bad service or food. Only thing I don't think is that great are the oysters. But the Salads, Breads, Soups and entrees are all good. Save room for a dessert sampler! Nice wine list too!

Oh yeah, that garlic!!! Gooooood stuff!
And Oscar...yep, he's been our server on almost every "date" we've had at the Yachtsmen Steakhouse. I KNOW he doesn't actually remember us but he sure does a good impression of it. He's terriffic!
Have a great dinner bethzfl! :)

You have made an excellent choice! The food and service is top notch.
Oscar is one of the BEST!
Also, if you see "MIKE" at the podium at the YSH tell him "pinnie" says HI!

If you have a late lunch, you could wait till 8:30 or so. Last time we went, our PS was at 8:20 and we were the only folks in the side room at the back. It was great! One thing about YS, you almost always have to wait. But there is a very nice lounge right next door to have a drink.
If you have a table by the windows, you can see alittle bit of the upper fireworks from Illuminations at 9. Only problem with sitting by the windows is that the sidewalk runs right along the outside. Lots of folks are walking by going to Beaches and Cream, SAB, etc. They peer in and check out your dinner!:D But the view of Storm along Bay is super!

I love this place! As many times as I've been to WDW I had never tried it before this past July. Now it's one of my favorites. It was absolutely the best meal we had during our trip. That garlic is heavenly, so are the potatoes. My DH and I asked to split a tomato and mozzarello appetizer and they brought it out already plated on two separate plates. If that was sharing then I know I couldn't have eaten the whole appetizer myself. The steak was wonderful and the desset sampler was decadent. My three year old had the white chocolate Mickey puzzle that you "paint". It also comes with a cupcake. He loved it. We were also lucky enough to get Oscar. He is one of a kind. We'll definitely have this one on our list from now on.

Just booked this for our "special dinner" on the romance plan.
I can't wait to try it. We have tried Jiko's twice and CG
and loved both but after reading all the great things about
this restraunt I thought this would be our pick this time
Thanks for the reviews

We LOVE the YC! We ate there for the first time last year, and ended up eating there again before we left. We went back again this year, and the meal was just as wonderful. Definitely go for the dessert sampler - it's the best!! We had Michael as our server, and our service was unbeatable. Just thinking about it makes me sad because I'd like to be back there right now!

I agree that the food is good at the Yachtsman. I was a little disappointed in the atmosphere, or lack thereof. The theming was blah, and it seemed so much like a hotel restaurant to me. The lighting was a little too bright, too. Not a huge negative, but I didn't feel like it was a "special" place to go.
We are giving it another shot in a couple weeks!
