View Full Version : Marathon Training Thread 8/22-8/28

Well, I get to start this thread this week. :) I worked really hard last week, and made my 1000 minutes goal on Friday. I added a few "strolling" minutes yesterday when my sisters, mom and I went to Stratford. (Of course my food choices weren't the best :o )
My personal goal of hitting Curves 3 times didn't come through, so I'm going to try for 3 this week. This is a REST day, so I'll think about it for tomorrow. :p
Have a good day, everyone. Check my counter to see how long until we run. But remember:
Just put one foot in front of the other 'cause slow and steady wins the race. . . . and the Donald medal.

Did my mall walk today, 3.75 miles. As I posted on the daily exercise thread, I think I'm going back to morning walks outside. The use the treadmill after work routine just wasn't happening! The weather is a little cooler in the mornings now, plus I think I need to walk a little in the heat as I'm sure it will still be pretty warm in WDW when I do the 10K in October.
Hey, I'm doing 10k on 10/10......sounds like a LUCKY day to me ::yes:: Seven weeks left to train for that.....but smack in the middle is 5 days at WDW for a birthday celebration (PixieMagic's).
We plan on doing a major Epcot/Boardwalk/MGM walk while there, hope the humidity cooperates! Also, only have two 'special' meals planned, so this trip I'll be working on staying on eating plan more than I ever have before for a WDW trip.
Wore my brand new sneakers.....no problems...we'll see how the old feet feel tomorrow!
Keep moving everyone!

Hi Debbie & Jackie:wave:
Good job Jackie on the mall walk:Pinkbounc
Debbie I am always saying slow & steady wins the race now, thanks:) I also did not make my goal this week to beat my 13 miles last week, only hit 9.3 + bike day.
Yesterday it rained and I kept waiting for it to finish and never made it out to walk. Here I thought I had done 4 walking days and 1 bike but I only had 3 walks:rolleyes: I need to keep better track. So I started off strong today with a 5 miler. I will beat that 13 miles this week::yes::

Debbie- thanks for starting the thread for me today- and Jackie- thanks for starting it for me last week! I thought I'd be able to get to it today- but I am sooooo tired from my vacation..... and I DIDN'T even go to WDW!!!! Anyway- I appreciate it when someone picks up the ball and runs with it when they see I haven't posted when I normally would.
I walked all week last week. Couldn't tell you how far I went, but I walked!! Today I was supposed to walk 4 miles. But I was just too tired- so I put it on my schedule for tomorrow (which should be my rest day). I feel pretty good about what I did last week though- and can now go full power into my training since all my vactions are over for the summer!
I missed you all last week and was impressed with the work you did. WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEWCOMERS! It's exciting to see our rank and number growing.
Grammy- I'm sending you a PM.

Hi
Wow another new week! The time sure is flying. Last week I was busy getting caught up at work and at home after being on vacation the week before so I didn't get much opportunity to get to the boards. I did get in my walks but I only got in 1 of my 2 days of cross training so my goal for this week is to get in 3 days of walking/jogging and 2 days of crosstraining. I still have 310 minutes of exercisingto do before the end of the month for the August 1000 min. challenge, it's going to be close but I am still determined to make it!
I too am thinking a lot lately about how slow and steady wins the race, and the Donald medal lol. From what I have been reading that way of thinking is definitely the right way of thinking.
Have a GREAT weak everyone! Keep moving!

morning all!
I didn't do so well at the World last week.... very little running went on. This morning I got back on track. Up and out at 5:30 for a 5 mile run. Hopefully, I didn't lose too much conditioning because of my laziness!
Also managed to gain a little, so it's back to logging all my food in fitday.
I can't believe I have to go back to work next week! Where did my summer go??
Welcome to all the new names and faces!

Well, I'm back. How many times can you fall off the wagon and the recommit? I've had a bad couple of weeks, but starting this morning, I'm determined to stay OP and walk. This morning I did an easy 30 minute walk. It's amazing how quickly you lose ground when it comes to speed and endurance. I feel like I'm starting at square one again.

Hey All!
I'm still here, but have fallen off the wagon with you, tw1nsmom. I don't know how often it can happen, but it seems I am going for a record?!
Maybe the two of us can help each other out!!
I am all moved home now, ready to recommit. I am going to the health club to get a membership sometime this week. It's a trade off. Mom and Dad will pay for the membership if I remodel some bathrooms and do other work around the house. I am sure it's worth it, but things have definitely changed since I was a "kid."
So, here goes...
Sounds like everybody is doing well. Sorry I've not been around to encourage, but we all know how moving goes, right?!
Anyway, off I go. I have some shopping to do! (Cheryl knows what I'm talking about...here I come Mall of America!)

Well, after my rest day yesterday I was ready for my walk today. I walked my forty minutes pushing my DD in her stroller. I think I'll take her everyday because it is much more difficult then just walking. It's also a lot more interesting because she yak's the whole time were moving. Look Mommy, a truck, a white truck,..faster Mommy, I want to go faster. The second sentence I often ignored... until the 15th time. Then I had to kick it up a notch. A good thing, so maybe she'll be my training partner from now on.. or at least until the snow flies.
Have a great week everyone!!:bounce: :bounce:

I tell you I am a slow starter on Monday. Everyone at work always "complains" and I think it is rubbing off on me ::yes::
I didn't get up and get moving this AM, but I did go to physical therapy tonight and the substitute therapist - was a toughie! My knee always hurts when I am done, so I skipped Curves and went shopping. I was in a part of town I don't normally get to often and my DH out of town, so I had some time. Actually bought Molli a Christmas present! (I'll know if she reads this or not by whether she asks me where I shopped at - even if I tell her, she won't guess the gift :teeth: )
I had a couple of close calls today with making bad food choices, BUT I survived! It's after 7pm so no more sweat for today. I have someone at work who is keeping in tow too and she showed up at my desk at the right time and said "you are being good today, right, right" Well, there went any thoughts of a snack at break that I would regret later - and I took a bag of celery and carrots with me to have after therapy, so I wouldn't stop somewhere - they were my "m and m's" :p
So I am smiling tonight I made it! Hope it was a successful day for you guys too!
I will be getting up in the morning and walking - taking my mom to dinner tomorrow night but I think it will be salad bar for me.
Any other WW's in this training thread, what's your take on the new format? I think I will try to chat tonight I would think it will get some conversation time.

I got in 45 min. on the exercise bike and 5 min. stretching tonight. So that is 1 of my days of cross trainig for the week. Tomorrow is a scheduled rest day for me and I am really looking forward to it :D
ohMom My shins were sore yesterday from Friday when I had added more jogging inbetween my walking. I keep wondering if I will ever get to a point where my shins won't "flare up" every now and then. With all the walking (and some jogging) I have been doing I thought I was beyond that but I guess not. I am starting to think I need new shoes too, maybe that will help.
Ashley It's good to see you here again! Did you get in some good shopping at MOA? Did you check out the IKEA store yet?
Have a good Tuesday everyone! Keep moving!

Good Morning everyone!
Well- today is the beginning of my re-dedication. I have an appointment with the dietician again. Remember I was going to her weekly until June? Well, I've decided to start again with her. I do much better when I have someone to be accountable weekly to. I haven't gained any weight since I stopped going to her, but I haven't really lost any either. For the past 2 months I've just been eating whatever I wanted to- so it's good that I've stablized in my weight. I think the weight will start coming off again once I start up with her. I am also going to stop at Curves, the local gym and the local swimming pool (indoor) to see what they have to offer. I really need to tone my upper body. Then , I have to walk 2 miles sometime today. I am so glad that my vacations are over for a while! It takes me so long to get back intot he swing of training again.
Has anyone heard from Beth (Trola)? I didn't notice if she posted last week.
Cheryl- It sounds like you're progressing in your training! Maybe if you slowed down the speed of your jogging the soreness will go away. Either that, or start out with less time jogging and work up to where you are now. It sounds like you're just pushing a little too fast, which I think we all have a tendency to do!
Grammy- I LOVE your alternative therapy of shopping! That made me laugh!!! :hyper: :teeth: I guess we have more then training for the marathon in common!!! It's nice that you have an angel to watch out for you at work! keep up the good food choices- I'm gonna be feeling that pain soon enough... probably around 3pm TODAY!!
Susan- do you rent out your trainer??? You DD sounds darling! It's been so long (20 years) since I've had a baby at my house that it sounds like I might like to have one around. What fun for you. I envy that you have a little one to help encourage your pace!
Ashley and Tw1nsmom- we ALL fall off the wagon....... A LOT!! What's important is that you keep getting back on. I'm starting up again today. Can I join you two??
Mom- Sounds to me like your time is great! I don't think I'll EVER get to a 16 minute mile (that's required for this race) let alone a 15 minute pacce. You should be proud! I'm proud of you!!
Colleen- Just jump back on with Ashley, Tw1nsmom and I- you can be the leader.... ok???
Just keep swimming.... swimming....swimming...swimming.... and get that Donald medal!!!!

ah Tuesday - I am feeling so much better today - got up and tmilled 3 miles and did my knee stuff - I must say those phys therapists have me doing things I would not have thought would be necessary - good thing I went to check it out (thank you Molli for the push to do that) How about you Debbie - is your knee improving? Yesterday I baffled the "fill-in" gal when I said well my knee feels just fine doing this stuff but these exercises make my hips really hurt! so I got more for my $ she gave me a hip stretching exercise now too.
I said last night in chat that a dream vacation would be to go to a health spa for a couple of months and just have people say do this-do that and feed me the right stuff and wah-lah I would emerge, hopefully at maintaining status - yes Molli I would take you with me - now if someone would just make that spa place affordable I think that there would be a long, long waiting list! And I could just make it one week that too would be awesome - Oprah can you hear this - us normal folks would like one of these places ::yes::
Just finished my yummy salad and working on my 3rd day OP and Molli is too! You can make it M - and soon you will be back into those jeans with some wiggle room.
Karen - I WILL MAKE THE 16 MIN MILE - that is your chant - get those negative thoughts out of there - set this to a tune and make it your "voice" you hear! Now if there is anyone else doubting you repeat after Karen.........
Gotta get back to office - keep up the good work all you trainees - make it a good day :wave2:

Hi Everyone:wave:
Sounds like we are all off to a pretty good start. Don't worry about wagon falling-- as long as you jump back on::yes::
I just did 5.4 miles on the treadmill. I did the first 5.0 in 65 mins, my best time yet. Woo Hoo:hyper:
I ate awful over the weekend. That's the wagon that I better be jumping back on!
I am really tired of my clippie. Don't get me wrong, its a nice enough clippie, but I've been lugging it around for a whole year now! Time for the gold. I want to get my act together and get that next clippie.
Keep up the good work everyone:D

Hey there! I am glad to see that we have new folks who checked in last week! I am glad to see that everyone is still working on their stuff. I am glad to report that I did manage to do some walking today. DH had his hip replacement surgery today and while I was waiting I went outside and walked for about 45 minutes. It was a beautiful day and it helped me in more ways than one.

good morning all:wave2:
today I got up and headed out the door, planning on powerwalking (this is my new term meaning my jog/walk intervals - well that's what it means for me) anyhoo -- planning on my 3 mile course. well - I got new shoes monday, which I think will be super dee duper but today they just went "thunk thunk thunk" not mention my shins were totally achy (from my long powerwalk saturday still) so I cut it short and did 30 mins, covering 2.4 miles. then I did 20 mins of yoga to stretch out my oh so sore hammies
btw- i'm here :hyper: my DDs started school monday and i'm playing catch-up:eek: around my house! I have to limit my pc time or i'll never get anything done! also - my oldest DD discovered a virtual horse ranch website and is totally into it and hogging the computer:rolleyes:
I weighed myself today, I have 10 lbs to lose now. I really slacked over the summer in the eating category. I went totally back OP (WW flex pts system) and so far so good. I'm trying to just eat my minimum + AP each day, yesterday I went over by 2 though.
Tlily -- PD and prayers for your DH and his recovery. I'm very proud of you for getting out and walking during the wait. What great stress reduction!
BTW -- I don't know if any of you go to the cruise board, there has been a family tragedy for one of the posters, it's very very sad. I know any prayers for her family would be in order. There is also a source of donations if anyone feels inclined to help. I'm just passing the word along.......

Just wanted to touch base and let you all know that I'm still out here!
I've totally dropped off the training for now, but hopefully will be walking again on Friday. I had been saying Friday, but maybe I'll make that Thursday. I had planned to spend my early Thursday taking care of our AP codes for our tenative November trip. Now that is done, so I guess that frees me to walk a day earlier!::yes::
Thank you to all who have PM'ed me. We're hanging in there. We kind of live in a fog between doctor's appointments and procedures and taking care of everyday life.
Congrats to all of your successes in your training! I'm so excited at how well everyone is doing!
Tigerlily- prayers for your DH and also for you as his caretaker.
Take care all and hopefully I can post some actuial training time later this week.

Hi everyone
I got in a 70 min walk today and 5 min. stretching afterwards. I didn't do very much jogging at all today. Karen, I'm taking your advice and backing off on the jogging a little right now. I think maybe I have been trying to do too much to fast with adding in the crosstraining on the bike too. Even though I didn't jog much I still did average just under a 14 min/mile pace for 4 miles including my 5 min. warmup so I was happy with that when I drove my course after I walked. I also did some walking drills for the first time. I'm not sure I did them right, I need to look in my Marathoning for Mortals book again at doing the form drills.
When I came in from my walk this morning and was doing my stretching DD was watching a show on the Disney Channel and all of a sudden I heard one of the characters say "Slow and steady wins the race" Wow how appropriate to hear our motto (minus the ...and the Donald medal LOL) Then a little later I heard from the TV "Just keep moving and you can do almost anything" I think that should be another one of our mottos except minus the almost, Just keep moving and you can do anything!
I am still not doing the best with my eating though. plutosmyfav I need to get on the good eating wagon with you lol. Every day I say I will restart tomorrow and I do pretty good and then we end up going out to eat or out for ice cream and I blow it again. I really need to get back on track with the eating!! I still have 2 more pounds to lose from vacation and then the other 12 pounds I wanted to loose before our cruise in Nov. Summer is always the hardest time ofthe year for eating for me so hopefully now that is basically over that will help. I'll try again to do better tomorrow!!!
Tiger Lily Prayers and PD for a speedy recovery for your DH! Good for you getting out there to walk during his surgery!
Grammy Your idea for a inexpensive spa vacation sounds heavenly, if only there was such a place
:D I hope your hip (and knee) are feeling better.
ohMom I too have read on the cruise board about the tragic fire. How sad for that family! DD and I have been praying for them during bedtime prayers.
My DD loves horses too, could you post or PM me with the virtual horse ranch website your DD found.
Beth It's so good to see you post again. I am still keeping you and your family in my prayers. I think about you often. Good luck getting started with your walking again.
Keep up all the great work everyone and remeber, Just keep moving and you CAN do anything!!!

I'm just in from my morning 2.2 mile walk/jog. That's right I said jog! It didn't last very long (about a tenth of a mile...down-hill:rolleyes: ), but I didn't feel as though I was dying afterwords.
I just put a South Beach friendly Frittata in the oven for the family breakfast. After breakfast I have to get the kidlets ready for a playdate at the house of one of their little friends (I'll stay and chat with the mom). Later I'll continue working on making DD's fall wardrobe. It's not as ambitious as it seems. I use one very simple jumper pattern and one very simple pull-on pants pattern and make them in a variety of fabrics. I'd rather just buy her clothes, but she's big for her age and I can't find any inexpensive approriate clothing for her. Unless I'm willing to pay fancy children's boutique prices, all the clothes for her size are a little hoochy-mama for a four year old.
It's going to be a busy day, but it feels like it's going to be a good one. I hope all of you have a great day!

morning all,
I'm starting the countdown before I have to return to school. One week and counting... Today, I have to hit the teacher store and stock up on supplies/materials.
Last night, DH and I raced a 5k. He has not really trained for it, just off and on running but thought he would be fine. I beat him! I placed in the Athena (over 140 lbs)division. Eye opening experience: A friend ran as well-great body, pretty muscular, extremely athletic. She ran a 24:00 race. After I got my nice shiny medal for placing, she "confessed" that she was sad she didn't register for the Athena division too. She "couldn't" because then she would've had to admit to her husband that she was over 140. Why are we (myself included) all so obsessed about numbers...
I'm ramping up for the Philly Distance run (half-marathon) on September 19. 12 miles this Sat., 14 miles next Sat, then I taper. I can't believe that I've come this far! I rock! :p
What a great example you are all setting for your families! I love reading everyone's accomplishments! Are you all keeping a log of what you've done?
Train well, and take care!

anyhow -- cheryl - 14 min/miles are AWESOME!!! doesn't it feel good to know you have the pace; now it's just working up the mileage.
tomorrow I have a long powerwalk planned with my neighbor, remember her? she said she slacked some too towards the end of the summer but i know she'll keep my feet moving. i have been wearing my new shoes a bit to break them in but i know tomorrow will be a challenge!
beth - good to hear from you, how did your walk go today??
twnsmom - cyber high five for a bit o' jogging! and i'm still impressed that you make your DD's clothes::yes:: My DD is built stocky too and taking steroids for the past year hasn't helped! I just bought her old navy boot cut jeans with adjustable waistband (were on sale on line for 12.50 each) and to get them to fit her waist they are about 8" too long. guess i'll be getting my sewing machine out too.
I LOVE the new mottos!! you are soooo right -- we can do anything we put our mind to -- just keep moving!!! :hyper: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi everyone!! I am back from my WDW and cruise vacation that included Hurricane Charley and weather delays for the trip home. Did not exercise as much as planned but still only gained 5 lbs., that was the goal I set for myself so I am okay with it. Went to WW on Tuesday and have been 1/2 on 1/2 off plan but I am getting there(stressful week at work, they moved offices while I was away). I also have a walk planned for tomorrow to get me going again. I am happy to be back and training again.

Athena...... I mean Colleen- YOU RULE!!!! WTG beating you DH in the 5K!!! I'm almost afraid to ask, but..... What was the category name for those of us with more weight then Athena???? I'd really like to do a 5 or 10 K before the half, but can't really find any local ones to do. YOU ARE ONE GUTSY GIRL!!! Good luck doing the half in Sept. ! Please let us know every agonzing detail of it- what I don't know hurts me!
Tw1nsmom- congrats on the running! It doesn't matter how you did it- just that you did! Isn't it amazing how good you feel when you take that step to run a little?

I'm sneaking back onto the boards. I haven't posted or trained since last WED. I cleaned my house all day Thurs. and my very best bud from years gone by came form Oregon for 5 days. We chatted, ate, chatted, drank adult beverages in excess, chatted, chatted and shopped. Needless to say all plans went out the window. We did talk about low carbs and curves but didn;t do anything with the info. It was great fun and I miss her terribilly already. But back to plan. Good to see so may of you staying on the training track. I am hoping to run early in the am on Fri. We began our teacher workshops today so everything is busy around here. My daughters have their first High School soccer games tomorrow afternoon. I will begin again. Start slow and steady first.

well, my do-rag is drenched! DN and I hit the trail at 9 a.m. this morning after DD went to school; 90% humidity here and the sun was shining brightly:sunny: temp. was only 76 but sure felt much hotter! Anyhow -- we did approx 6.25 miles (have to measure it was just over 6 miles for sure) in 83 mins. Sundie, we did twinkie-workouts:flower3:
I did 10 mins yoga to stretch out the legs and i'm hitting the shower. just sat here to read our thread while drinking my protein shake! :cool2:

I got up and walked/jogged today. I can only jog very short distances, but I was able to jog more today than yesterday. I completed 2.2 miles in 37 minutes. I'm going to do my long walk either tommorrow or sunday (depends on the weather). I'm going to try to concentrate on the distance and not the speed.
All of you are working so hard. You inspire me.

it gives me the time to get a longer walk done and even tho it was way humid - I felt good out there. I think that I "earned" extra activity points since it took more energy to "cut through" that curtain of humidity (my DH thinks I am a whiner about humidity and I probably am but hey YOU KNOW what I am talking about) :teeth:
I have been reading all the work that everyone has been doing -WTG everyone - I like the "slow and steady" thought for now and closer to the time will change it to "a bit faster and a bit steadier" but no use to get in a tizzy just yet :hyper: (inserting another comment "dang - it's just too humid to think I could be going any faster")
I'm off to shower and move on with the day - getting a desperately needed haircut - hope everyone has a good weekend - thinking of each of you and I am proud to say I am part of this inspired training group - thanks again to everyone for posting your progress - it's YOU that helps keep me focused :wave2:

survived my 12 mile run, but it was pretty slow! 15 minutes slower than the last time I ran 12-my leg was pretty sore. Of course, now the entire lower part of my body is sore! :teeth:
It sounds like the humidity is getting to all of us. Fall is almost here and hopefully we'll have some good training weather! Have a great weekend everyone!!

I got in 68 minutes of mostly walking . It feels so good to be back on my plan. Love the last bit of the route when I know I'm almost done and I have accomplished something for the day. Who cares if I get anything else done!LOL
I'm so pumped to take this vacation and even more pumped to keep it a secret until Dec 25th.
Have been seeing flight prices get in to a reasonable range. Going to keep waiting though. Slow and Steady wins the race. Maybe I should wear my Speedy the Turtle shirt. I call it my running shirt!
I can not complain about weather here. 62 and sunny . No humidity. I really missed the warm summers of years before but I will be back next year and I am looking forward to a long and gorgeous fall.
Pats on the back for all who are moving towards our goal!!!
Have a fab day!!:grouphug: :grouphug:

I can't stand the humidity either! Today was supposed to be my long walk, but I had to cut it down to 3 1/2 miles. I was dealing with the humidity, but then the attack of the killer mosquitos began! We live near a river (the Mohawk), and I'm used to some mosquitos. Generally they haven't been bothering me as long as I keep moving. It's been so rainy and humid lately that there must have been a population explosion. I was spending more time swatting mosquitos than I was walking. When I came home, I had 15 bites!
Tommorrow is supposed to be a rest day for me, but DH and I cleaned off the back porch/mudroom so that I can have access to my recumbant bike. Because I cut my walk short, I'm going to try to do an hour on the bike tommorrow.
Today ended up being a somewhat exciting day though. DH has decided to renovate our bathroom in the next month or so. It needs a new sub-floor, plumbing, sink, tub....really everything! We went to Home Depot today to get a feel for what we can afford. It's going to be a very basic bathroom, but it's going to be a joy to be able to take a bath in a tub that I can easily clean, and to have a floor that doesn't have tiny tiles coming up daily. You have to love old houses:rolleyes: .

UGH! It has been a busy week, and it looks like it isn’t going to calm down anytime soon.
On Monday, I hosted our primary/junior division teachers for our annual Summer meeting. It helps to catch up with everyone and gets the year started on a good foot. Can you say, “Meet, eat, drink and be merry.”? lol
On Tuesday, I went with DS 19 to sign the cheques for his apartment. It is not quite 1½ km. from College, and I think that it will do him well.
On Wednesday and Thursday, I had full day workshops to attend.
Friday was physio day.
So....I haven’t managed to get what I want done as far as Curves is concerned. And I haven’t had time to do my long walk, yet. Maybe tomorrow, but if not, I’ll do this week again.
Jackie, it looks like you are on track and have a plan for that 10k. You are right about it being the ‘getting around to it’ that is the problem.
Aunt Meme, you are an inspiration by increasing last week’s result. Good for you!
Karen, how did your appointment go with your dietician go? You have come a long way from where you started, and your determination is catching!
Cheryl, I think that not jogging is a good plan for you right now. Look at you go with those 14 minute miles! Awesome!
Colleen, so how much was the damage at the teacher’s store? I didn’t do too badly. . .I figure that I have spent less than $100 of my own money. Which is good with 2 of them leaving the
nest for post-secondary education. I can’t believe how quickly the summer went, either. But I am looking forward to the routines of the school year. . . especially with two fewer to look after all the time. (Now we are 5) Weigh to go, you goddess, you! (And don’t worry about the slower 12 mile...12 MILE??!!! Yikes! That’s TERRIFIC!)
Mollie, you certainly have a varied plan for strengthening and walking. You are doing a fabulous job. Those 10 pounds won’t last long with YOU after them!
Tw1nsmom, believe me, we all fall off the wagon! (Says she of the ‘Why I haven’t been good this week. . .’ essay) Did you know that success is not the end. SUCCESS is STARTING
again when we falter! Sounds like you have a plan-even when humidity strikes. That’s the ticket!
Ashley, it sounds like you and your parents have a good and supportive relationship and that you are all settled in. :)
Susan, I know how well you have done this week. Walking with the little one-and you are right, she never stops- and then keeping up with Mary Liz. At least you didn’t end up with my
blisters! You go, girl! You are doing a FABULOUS job!
Bev, are you taking ibuprofen regularly? I know that I am not as diligent as I should be on this. The ibuprofen takes care of the inflammation, and I know that I always hurt a bit after physio,
too. I did remember yesterday-and it made a difference! So I followed orders and took some today, too. Oh, and my PT is working on strengthening my butt, too! :teeth: I am so proud of you for walking-in the mornings (I WISH I could roll out of bed) and in this heat! WOW!
Monica, did you get that long walk in? Or are you like me...procrastinating for the cooler weather? You seem to be busy and the walk on the beach sounds heavenly.
TigerLily, how is your DH making out? Does he have you doing all your running for HIM? ;) Hugs, hun
Beth, so glad that you got your AP’s. It always makes me happy when people are planning and they can cut a break. Hugs to you and yours, too, sweetie. Take each day as the gift that God
intends us all to receive.
LAWalz, glad to see you back. Sometimes easing back in can be a good plan, too. Let us know how it is going.
Beckie, taking time to be with old friends is that gift that we receive. Same message to you about living each day and counting our blessings. And you sure are right when you say, Love the last bit of the route when I know I'm almost done and I have accomplished something for the day. Don’t know if it’s the same for you, but when I get to that point in my walk, I walk even faster, for Heaven’s sake! And you are right, too, when you add: Who cares if I get anything else done? ::yes::
Good work this week, everyone. Remember: Just put one foot in front of the other because slow and steady wins the race. . . and the Donald medal! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Nice WISH challenge clippie Debbie. Well today I wasn't going to do my long walk because when I got up this morning it was hot and humid. We had some thunderstorms and then I thought it might be better to do it when it was cloudy. Mary Liz called to come to supper and then I had no excuse.
After dinner, we went 5.4 miles in 100 minutes. She doesn't really know what an easy walk is though. It felt really good. Hard though because we were walking on dirt country roads and at one point we had a big, ole, mangy dog growling after us. We just kept walking. I must remember to put a heavy object in my bag next time in case that **** does more than growl at me. There seem to be a lot of hills also. I hope this means that when I hit flat pavement it isn't going to be near as trying.
Well, off to bed now and tomorrow is a rest day....except for the laundry, dishes, etc.
Have a super Sunday everyone!!!:sunny::

I know we start a new thread today. I wanted to say that I have just read everyone's reports for this week.
It is great to have a place to be able to read about everyone and I thank you all for posting here.
I have done a couple of walks this week in between visits with DH. When he gets served meals I make myself go out and get something then walk. I return in an hour and then sit for the rest of the time. At least I am getting in some kind of walk.
He is doing well with the sugery. It has not been a good experience for him. He has had 2 roomies that have kept him up ALL night since he has had his surgery. He has complained, but to no relief. He is totally exhausted. I think the Doc is going to release him--even that it may be an early release, because DH said he cannot tolerate this environment. Oh the stories...
We pray for his roomies as they are old and quite sick and cannot help what happens. It is just difficult for DH.
Thanks for your support. I hope to get something in this week.
Keep on keeping on everyone!
