It's time to start signing up to go see Mickey!

Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations

Mickey Mouse is Coming to Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center!

August 28 - October 30, 2004

FREE Admission
Self Parking $7 (validated if you eat in one of the four main restaurants)

Celebrating Mickey’s 75th Anniversary, 15 uniquely designed, 700-pound, six-foot tall Mickey statues will be on display through-out the Gaylord Texan Resort. The program called, "Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations" brings together Disney Legends, as well as artists, actors, athletes and others who lent their creative talent to the program. Each Mickey is a work of art.

Some of the Mickey statues that will be at the Texan include: Shaquille O'Neal, Annette Funicello, Doris Roberts, Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, BET (Black Entertainment) and Jamie Lee Curtis.

To stay with the Theme, we'll do nametags with a Mickey Statue. :) When you sign up let me know your DIS name, first name and favorite Mickey and I'll make a nametag for everyone. Don't forget to include your family members :) You can pick a statue that isn't coming to Dallas if you like. The website has all the pictures. If you'd rather send me a PM that works too. :)

Hi Janette & Lisa!!

I think we should be able to make the meet - nothing on the calendar to interfere at this point. We saw all of the Mickeys at WDW but seeing them again along with my DFW DIS friends sounds like a treat.

It may be a bit rough timewise for my kids (that is naptime for them both) but we'll work something out. I am assuming all of us will be there but will let you know if that changes.

Can you guys tell me exactly how far this place is from Arlington? Is it an all day thing or can we stop in for a little while? What will there be for the kids to do? Are you guys going to stay and eat to get your parking validated? EEK! Lots of questions!

jenlovesdisney--it is near Grapevine Mills Mall--are you familiar with that area? It is just a little bit north of the airport. We went on the first day they were there and it took us about 2 hours to see all the statues but there were lots of people there. They handed out little cards and you got them checked off at each statue and then put them in a raffle so that took a little while. It wouldn't be an all day thing and just walking around checking out the atrium at the Gaylord was fun for our kids. The place is HUGE!! Hope to see you there:wave:

OH, OK. Just wanted to make sure we weren't going to be driving out there (about 30 minutes from where we are with no traffic) and then staying for a little bit. I think the kids will have a good time. Can't wait to see you guys!

BTW, Did anyone except me get charged twice for parking?
The credit card exit was broke so I went to the other exit. I was assured by the attendant there that I would not be charged twice - Well of course I was. I have spent about 2 hours on the phone w/ the accounting department to try to get one of the charges reversed.
Oh well - What a cool hotel. I am looking into us staying there on our anniversary next month.
