Yesterday I received an email from my DB who lives in So. Cal and is a Disneyland AP holder. He wrote,

"The neatest thing was when we first arrived at Disneyland, Cinderella and Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) were sitting under one of the trees just inside the entrance gate telling stories. Great photo op. And as they were wrapping up, along comes Belle and Snow White. Talk about princess overload. Wasn't until we went into the park that I realized that Sleeping Beauty's Castle is undergoing renovation (was covered by a tarp). As such, am guessing that the princesses are holding court more often now in the entry area (not good for getting in and out of the park 'cause crowd control was an issue)."

It wasn't until during my ride in this morning that it something he wrote finally sunk in... Sleeping Beauty's Castle is undergoing renovation. I know this is for the 50th Anniversary, but please tell me it's not going to be another birthday cake; this time frosted with baby blue colored icing.

I don't have a picture to link to, but Al Lutz (from MiceAge.com) fittingly referred to it as "a Puerto Rican Prom crossed with Barbie's Dream House."

It's not going to look like a cake (thank goodness). It's getting a fresh coat of paint (which it needed) and will still be pink as it was before, with gold trim, as it had before. The main differences will be some extra banners and stuff, and I've heard maybe some sparkles like Cinderella's Castle at MK. I've seen the drawings of what the finished castle will look like and it will look great--very festive, but not garish. If you check on the DL board, there's a thread entitled "Mickey and the big blue castle" and someone took pictures of what it looks like with the blue tarps over it and a picture of one of the signs in front that shows the drawing of the finished product.

If you look in the Fall issue of the Disney Magazine there is a picture of how the castle will look - gilded in gold. They will be selling limited editions of the artwork beginning Sept 4, 2004.

If you are talking about the ad on page 12--that's not how the DL castle will look, that's just a piece of artwork and I think it's confusing people. I've seen the drawing of what it will look like and that's not it. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=622867 Scroll down the the last post and you'll see a picture of what it will look like.

Prof goofy, what is the significance of the lot in your sig?

I'm sure you get asked often, but, inquiring minds want to know.....

btw, the castle pic looks a bit garish to my eyes, but the gold parts look nice--it's just all the banners, etc that are gunking it up in that drawing, IMO.
