I have about 15lbs to lose. I am trying to watch my calorie intake and drink more water. I have been walking at least 5 days a week for 2 miles for at least the last 2 weeks. How long before I see any results from the walking? I know I will build muscle 1st before I lose weight so I am trying really hard to avoid the scale. I know that if I step on the scale and don't see a weight lose I will be very discouraged. I haven't really noticed any changes in the way my clothes feel either.

All depends on how fast you walk, hills/flat etc. Should be about 6 weeks before you really start noticing changes. Other people may notice it on you first.

Glad you asked because I'm walking 2 miles a day /5 days a week too. We get an occassional 3 mile day in but I don't think I see any results. I' guess I'll just hang in there.

When I first started walking -- 4mph, hilly subdivision -- I GAINED weight. It was very discouraging. After 10 days, it wooshed away (I had not changed my eating). My legs look great, I've built great muscles, and THAT'S what burns calories. Stick with it, it's probably the best overall excercise.
