Way down here in the Rio Grande Valley here. Specifically Harlingen. One son lives in Denton (goes to UNT), the other son lives and works in Laredo. Don't know if there are any other DVCers anywhere near any of us. This will be interesting.

Isn't that the truth!!!

And we can never find those $49 airfare sales that the NE part of the country seems to get.

We fly out of Austin or DFW when we fly to WDW. Driving is not too bad, and much cheaper for a family of 5!!!

Wow! Maybe we need an Austin area DVC get together--all 2 of us ;)

I haven't thought of flying out of Houston--I guess it's just as close as DFW. Is it substantially cheaper than Austin???

Another TOMBALL resident here (NW Houston).

WOW! I think us 2 Tomball DVC'ers gives Tomball the hightest concentration of DVC'ers per capita!

We drive, stopping in Pensacola over-night. This puts us in at about 3pm... On the return, we drive all the way home. The timezone change saves us an hour, and we get to sleep in our own bed.

I'm up for a meet - anytime! Lora, care to join us?

After posting, I checked on fares from Houston for our upcoming trip. They were $77 less, and the flights were non-stop. Before booking them, I checked Austin one last time, and the fare was $5 less than the Houston fare. That is honestly the first time that's ever happened to me! Most of the time it's $50 or so cheaper (which adds up when there are 5 of your flying!), plus it's a good excuse to visit with my brother. Guess this time he's missing out on a visit from us! :teeth:

timC - we, too, use Pensacola for our pit stop! It works well. We have never driven all the way thru on the way home, but we usually do a half-day at the parks before we head to Pensacola for the night on the way back to Texas.

timc-we did the same thing you do! Drive to Pensacola and stop for the night and on the return trip, drive straight through! Worked great for us EXCEPT, on this last trip, no hotel rooms in Pensacola at all! Ended up driving to Chipley, Florida before there were any vacancies!! Next time, I'll know to make a reservation for the overnight stay!!

Maybe we could do a Tomball DVC meet!! Would be mighty small though...:wave2:

19 hours. We leave at 3:00 PM, stop for a goop dinner around 7:00, let the kids sleep and get into Disney around 10:00AM and head straight to the park. Feel free to email directly at stilljc@msn.com if you have any questions. We tried leaving early in the morning but figured out that it is much quicker to drive over night when there is no traffic. It also helps having a DVD player in the car and having the kids sleep most of the way. Our kids are 6, 7 and 9. We have done this trip for three years now.

Hi... We are a family of 7 and live in Trenton, Texas! Trenton is located in North Texas about 30 miles south of the Oklahoma border.

We are taking our 12th. trip to Disney in December. We have been driving for the last 10 trips and it really is not to bad. DD has progressive hearing loss and she can no longer fly due to the pressure in the airplane can cause more loss. We did not want to give up Disney so now we drive!

We drove to DW in August for a 5 night stay at SSR.
