My wife and I were wondering, if you refer someone to DVC and they end up purchasing points does the refering party receive something from Disney? We just joined in June and we have some friends who may be interested. Thanks for your help.

Yes. As you just joined, you will soon be receiving "Share the Magic" kit. There will be a DVC plate for your auto, referral forms, and a pamphlet that discribes the referral awards program. I believe that for the first referral the reward is $200 Disney Dollars, IF your state allows referral awards (some don't).
Maybe someone else can correct me if I am wrong about the first reward.

IF you make 1 Referral in a Calendar Year $200
2 in a Calendar Year $350

After that it repeats 200 350 500 etc etc etc

Actually, there are more states that don't qualify than do. WE have referred several people who have purchased, and each time we get a notice saying, Thanks, but we can't give you anything " I still like to spread the word though!;)

Make sure they say they were referred by you right off the bat !!
Now, if they turn up in the DVC computer, as having inquired about DVC in the past, but didn't buy, you are inelagible for the reward. We have heard on these boards in the past about such incidents. Just to forewarn you. DVC keeps a computer log of each and every contact, and it goes alll the way back to the beginnig of DVC.

Since we joined in '95 we referred 14 families whom have joined. CT does not allow referral gifts. Bummer.

No rewards in Texas, either.

Disney haven't even mentioned it to us, I guess as we live outside the states we don't qualify, which I think is alittle unfair. I know of a number of people who would love a piece of the magic, but in all honest I have been refering them to my other timeshare company who offer money off of my maintence.

I have offered to split the rewards with anyone that lives in a state that doesn't allow it, use me as a referral and I will split the reward with anyone, since I have already done one this year on my own, we would now be eligible for the second level of benefit,
Why just get a letter when you can get Disney dollars

Do they offer the reward on re-sales, or is it on direct purchases only?

They only do the referral bonus on direct Disney sales.
And as for the people who live in states that don't give you the referral bonus, use me and we can split it or use anyone else you know who are owners in states in that allow the referral bonus. Why get nothing except a letter for referring someone, it might be nice to frame, but it doesn't do anything else for you, it won't even buy you a mickey mouse ice cream bar.
