planning on paying off this credit card that i used to book my room & don't want to use it anymore.... can i pay with a different card when i check in

Make sure you point it out to them when you check in. I charged the deposit for my room on one card and then I gave them another when I checked in. Both were Amex cards but with different numbers. When I returned home they had charged the vacation to the card that was on file for the deposit. This didn't present a problem for us but I would make sure to remind them to bill the room to the correct card. Have a great trip.

Last year, they gave me a hard time. I paid the deposit on one card, and wanted to pay the rest of the stay on another. I accidentlaly left the deposit card home, I was not trying to be difficult. They insisted on refunding my deposit on th eone card, and charging the entire stay on card 2. Card 1 was paid off, this left me with a credit balance on it of over $250.

Which I SOMEHOW was able to spend when I got home. I just did not see why it all had to be on one card. this was August 2003, at HRH.

i will make sure i follow up on this- as on the original card i have closed out the account (dis visa) HRH would be rather upset with me because they would get nothing from this card now :eek:

I just did this in July and was told the original deposit had to be transferred over to the new card. For some reason everything has to be on one card, so I ended up having credits and such. I don't know how this would work if the other card is canceled. Maybe you should call ahead and ask so there are no surprises on vacation.

i called Be A Star & they are going to give the hotel my new cc- i will then call Be A Star tomorrow to confirm & to double confirm i will call the hotel directly to make sure they have my new card on file- they haven't charged my card for the deposit as of yet- & it's been a while
