I've been a member of the Dis for several years but I've been away from the boards for awhile. It's become necessary for us to plan to sell our home and cleaning out drawers is a beginning. A couple of years back there was a thread by a woman who collected WDW soaps and shampoos for a children's charity or home. I cannot remember who she was or even if it was this board. I'm hoping someone in the know can help. I have about a hundred bars of soap and shampoo bottles that I've accumulated over the past few years and would like to donate. Help anyone!!!!!

Maybe you can donate them to Give Kids the World. I think that's a DIS-sponsored charity...at least it was, a few years ago.

Thanks for the heads' up, Cookie. I emailed them and offered the assortment. I'll wait to hear back from them, but if anyone else has any ideas, please feel free to respond.

I want to say it was someone "famous" rather than a regular poster. It was such a neat thing. Was it Deb?

I found something for you. Here's the link: http://allearsnet.com/acc/soap.htm. Hope this is what you were looking for!

I don't know if you really wanted to give it to the specific charity that you were thinking of, but if you just want to give it to anyone who is in need, is there an Institute for Human Services-type agency in your area?

We have a local IHS that always needs toiletries to give to the homeless that they serve, many of whom are women with younger children. Once in a while my office collects those things and we make little goody bags out of them.

Also, check your local women's shelters (for women and children), as well as specialized local agencies.

We have a number of local non-profit groups who help those who need a hand, and most of them offer some form of children's assistance. They're usually thrilled to receive these things, as it's something special for the children. Some, however, are not! Don't take it personally--just keep looking for an organization that will use them!
