all booked up march 05 already??

hi all,

I just called Universal to book a room for the first weekend March 05 (following a week at WDW) and was told that only kidsuites are left at HRH and PB, and only waterview ($264 plus tax) at RPR.

Can this be right? What are you all finding for availability these days?

Ok, I'm a nut, and this thread proves it. I started almost exactly the same thread exactly one year ago. And then in September 03, we started seeing all these discounted standard rooms on expedia and hotelkingdom.

I don't know why the people at Universal claim they are all booked up when the fact is they are holding rooms [at least that was definitely so last year -- hope so this year!].

Sorry to create [what I hope is] a false alarm!

We ran into the same problem for beginning of May 2003. Then all kinds of discount rooms showed up.

This time period of the year is when the Travel Industry start their number crunching and Industry Wide Trade Shows where the agencies and venders try to determine price points, therefore min bookings are offered till the competitors at The Trade Shows expose their products and new offerings.
Think about how the airlines work. If I went to book a flight for April next year the fare usually is 2 to 3 times what I want to pay but other people will pay it. Yet as the my travel date gets closer deals start to open up but only in a short window of time , take for instance SWA who runs a sale for two days almost every week.
Disney started doing this with the spreading out of the AP, resident, Dis Visa etc. codes release dates and limitations as to when to book, ei. fly by, arrive by, purchase by etc.
Be patient !
