Hi-

I would like to get DD4 (almost) 5 started with pin collecting and trading. We will have AP to Disneyland this year and will hopefully be going on a Disney Cruise in 2 years.

She is a super collector: collects rocks, leaves, tags from clothing, etc. everything

I looked on ebay ...thinking about buying a bunch of pins that she wouldn't necessarily like...so that she could trade them...is this a good idea?

Thought about going to the Disney Outlet Wharehouse in Anaheim to see if they have any...

Any ideas for me... I'm not trying to invest a fortune...I just want her to have fun

Thank you ,

Susan (and DD Allyprincess: )

Hi -
My DD (just turned 5) *loved* pin trading when we were there in May. We only traded with CMs - after a couple of failed attempts at trading with other preschoolers. I believe that some of the CMs wear green lanyards which are for trading with children (but I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong)

I bought a group of random pins on ebay - more than I wanted to spend, but I told myself it was an "investment" and if DD wasnt interested, I could always resell them. She loves the princesses, Tinkerbell, and the Aristocats, so we focused on trading for those.

We are going back in January and I already bought a few more for her to trade.

Yes, the Disney outlet woild be a good place to look.
Ebay is also good. That is just a buyer beware situation. Make sure what you are buying is what you really want.

Reference www.Pinpics.com if you have any questions on particular pins.

Disney Deals is also a good place to get pins. Just if you buy from them, it's best to bid on several items so shipping is combined.

Few more thoughts.....

Buy a lanyard and a few pins for yourself and trade as a family. Pin trading is great hobby that can be shared across ages. Also, it can help your child's confidence to apporach CMS and trade politely if they see you trade. My DD (5) trades. On our last trip , we started our god daughters ages 9 and 13. They were shy at first since they were not sure how to trade. Once they saw us, they picked it right up and was comfortable apporaching CMs.

Add a few pins during the trip that your DD might want and trade with her. It keeps it in the family and will help you recycle trader pins among your family and have the fun of trading.

You might want to consider not giving your child all the trader pins at once. They may trade out all the pins they had for pins they wanted early in the trip. Then you need to buy more pins.

If your DD gets too many pins, she will need a place to put them during and after the trip. I have seen lanyards get full over a trip. Frame them, cork board, or a bag.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trading,

Chuck

I like the idea of spreading them out over the vacation- Now thats something *I* should do....

I don't believe the Outlet in Anaheim is allowed to sell pins- I know others do but I think its a contract thing- Never hurts to check though :) -em
