I have noticed there are quite a few of us in the Ottawa area on the boards now. I posted befroe to see if people were interested in a meet, but not too many people responded......so I am trying again!
what do you say....Ottawa area DISers interested in a meet? Toronto people can come too!

Depending on the time of year you're thinking of Mickey65, I'd love to come! My sister used to live in Ottawa very close to the market, so I'm somewhat familiar with that area, and the Chateau Laurier! LOL
I hope you're feeling better! :D

Suggestions Mickey, no way! I'll wait and see what you and the others who would like to attend decide. With the mishaps that you and nativetxn went through, I think I may have developed some sort of Dis meet curse! ;) :D

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Mickey65. We missed you at the Centre Island Meet! Hope your plans for an Ottawa meet work out - I think it sounds like a wonderful idea for those of you in the Ottawa region.

What happens at a "meet"?

Disfan2..we just get together and meet each other and have the opportunity to get to know each other.......are you interested?
other Ottawa DISers.....I know there are more of us! what do you say? I was thinking maybe in August or September (before school goes back in?) Perhaps we could meet at one of the nice places in the market?

I would be interested in an Ottawa meet. My siblings live in the Ottawa area and I don't get to visit them often with my new baby. My sister has an even NEWER baby that I've only meet once. My brother is busy completing his Masters so I'd love an excuse to head Ottawa way late summer.
We ate at a Tucker's Market Place in Ottawa in a market area close to Parliment Hill ~ where else is a nice place to meet?
Maybe I can get my sibs to join us!

Sandra.....that would be great if you could come up! tucker's is where I was thinking of having a get together. There are a few other places right in the market are too...I think there is a neat Mexican place, but I can't remember the name of it.
Any others interested? Ottawa DISers??? where are you?

I'm interested but getting out for an evening is often difficult. My wife and I split our work schedules so that one of us (or my mom) is with our son. I've come to learn that having him tag along is not always appreciated (and understandably so) by other adults. I can't tell you the last time when I went out with just my DW (cue soft violin music... now).

Hi Mickey65,
Great idea about the meet. I'd love to attend as long as it's not between 27 August and 3 September (as we will be in Disney.... YAY!). :bounce:

DisFan2, how old is ds? We brought our kids to a DIS meet and it was great. dd was 7.5 yo and ds was 15 months old. ds is now 18 months old and I would bring him anywhere. (we are going to the NF DISmeet in two weeks) Don't worry about 'other adults' just have fun with the family. Unless it's a night/day out without ds you are looking for. (Could use one of those myself). Disney is a family affair for us so the kids go with ~ ENJOY!
Ottawa organizers: try picking two or three dates and a place or two and ask for RSVP's, see what happens! GOOD LUCK!
No good for me is Aug 18&19 (visiting Dad with sibs in North Bay ~ HEY, WE COULD MEET IN NORTH BAY LOL)
Labour Day Weekend no good ~ triathlon weekend!

Ok....let's look at some dates and see what we can come up with. I was hoping for a meet before school goes back in.
Aug 11 or 12?
Aug 25 or 26 (I know this cuts close to your departure wenabre..I hope not too close)
Do these dates work for anyone? Are there dates that would be better?
Disfan2.....please fell free to bring along your son! We can meet in a place that is kid friendly if that is better for you....the DIS is about family after all!

Hi again Mickey65,
Either set of dates would work for me. Would this be adults only or would my DD age 17 be invited as well?
Don't worry about the packing for our trip, we are determinded to be all packed a couple of days before and if we fail on our plan, then we'll be packing at our usual 1am before flight!!

The second set of dates would be better for us. DS has a camping trip on the 11-12.
DisFan2, the meets are usually held in the afternoon, so that it is easier for the whole family to come. Children are what Disney is all about- whatever their age! There are usually lots of kids of all ages, and they quickly make friends with each other and keep themselves amused. My DS is 13 and is really good with little ones.

Hi mickey65,
We would be three people for the Ottawa Dis meet,
1 Nana 1 Mom 1 Kid ( who just informed me she is a young adult-no kid discount,no kid status!) Whatever! So our count is three. What date are you looking at the most, Sat the 25th or Sun the 26th? Also if there is anything I can do to help-just holler!:)

I am leaning towards the Sunday...unless that is not good for those that want to come. I am pretty flexible.

There would be 4 of us-myself, DH, DS(13) and DD(10).
This is just a suggestion, but if it's possible, it might be better to have it someplace other than a restaurant. We found at the Toronto meet at the island, that it was much easier to move around and talk to everyone without the restrictions of being in a restaurant. I've attended both kinds of meets, and it is much easier to circulate and get to meet everyone in a non-restaurant setting. Ottawa has so many beautiful parks, there must be one where we could meet. We could have a contingency plan in case of rain, like a food court in a mall where there is a Disney store. :D We all brought our own food, or bought some at one of the food stands there. This also makes the outing more affordable for some. Just my 2 cents worth!

The weekend of the 25th-26th would be best for me, although I'm not certain yet that I will be able to attend.
