I live in North Carolina and have 2 girls, who will be 11 and 14 when we cruise. We are disney maniacs, try to see the World at least once a year and the cruise( we did a 4 day trip last time) was the best trip of my life!!!!!!
We are also traveling with another family, dad, mom, and DD12. Hope to talk to you and the others as we get closer.....

We live in Jersey and will fly down through Philly using Southwest. I hope it works out, I hear some sad stuff about the Philly airport and SW.
I have 2 girls, DD2 & DD4. They have no real concept of Disney or a cruise, so I am bringing them up to speed by playing old Mickey cartoons on our DVD player. They seem to like it. They request it every night. :earseek:
I am hoping to make some door signs. Maybe we will run into you during the cruise!

Been away from my counter for awhile (nonDisney vacation, if you can believe it!) But our days are slowly shrinking...
We're also taking little ones; DS2 and DS5
hoping the clubs will be as good as predicted!
See you there,

Hi ProfJenn!
Will your DS2 be old enough to join the clubs? My DD2 is within 2 weeks of her birthday :cake: and will be eligible to join her sister.
I hope she likes it. Then I get some me-time!
Maybe we can all meet briefly during the sail-away party. It would be nice to see other DIS'ers.:chat:

We're going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just booked with our TA yesterday:cool:
It will be my husband and I and our super active (will be) 5 year old son. We went on a 3 nt last Sept and we were suppose to go on the 7 nt Sept 4th cruise this year but couldn't b/c of the freaking hurricane.
We are so ready for this. I think we will wait until the last minute to tell the little one...if we told him now he won't stop bugging us.
BTW, we are from the DC Metro area and will most likely be flying. I'm still shopping for cheap flights. They are a lot higher than I expected for trying to book so way in advance.
We will also be celebrating our 7th anniversary!!!!

Hi! Welcome to the March 5 sail! We don't have any older kids (just little ones) but I'm sure there are some teens around.
I'm also a Detroit-MCO flyer and I found decent (I won't say "great") prices with Southwest this week. Worth a trip to the website!

We will be traveling with our son who will turn 2 during the cruise. Would appreciate any feedback on shore excursions with a toddler.

Our family has decided to jump onto the this cruise. I'm sure we're paying more by signing up last minute but we really need to get away. This will be our first cruise with kids, but they have been to Disney 2 other times and love it.
Our kids will be 5 & 3, so hopefully we'll get some use out of the clubs and see some of you others.

I too can't believe how soon the cruise is. I still haven't figured out how we're getting from MCO to Port Canaveral. Probably will end up renting a car. Our flight gets in around 6 am on Saturday. If we have a car we can get breakfast somewhere and stop at a grocery store before boarding the ship.
My DM has taken ill so all of my plans have gone to the wayside. Really looking forward to the trip. We all need a vacation!

01-25-2005, 05:20 AM
Hi everybody!
I am now into the project phase of my planning- door decorations, pillow cases, and gift baskets. Love every minute of it!
CArole, sorry to see your DM is ill- I'll keep her in my thoughts.
Do look into a towncar for the ride from MCO to the port- it may be easier and not too much more expensive. We are doing three legs in a car- from the port to the RAdisson the night before, from the ship to WDW for the day we disembark, and then being picked up at WDW around 8PM to catch our plane. It seemed rather crazy, being a single mom with 3 kids to add a rental car to deal with - single or not, I'd go for ease if I can afford it! getting quotes from various companies now.
Looking forward to hearing from everybody now that the time is getting so close!!!!!!

I have seen other people write about "door decorations".Excuse the rookie question...Whats with the door stuff? WHy? Just for fun?
mickeyworld
01-26-2005, 05:27 AM
dear pcnped
door decorations are just for fun for those of us who are disney addicted and have been planning for over 300 days and have gone over the top!!!!! Door decorations are usually magnets of some type since the doors are metal. I have a large magnet sheet with the four favorite characters( I found huge stickers) applied. We have named our cruise- Wishes Cruise of 2005- and that will probably be one the door, too. I think it started for people who wanted to find their door easily since they all look alike.
Anyway- use the search thing and you can read more about it.
zeldacruiser- I am a single mom, too. I am travelling with 2 14 year olds and an 11 year old, all girls. We are hooked up with another family with an DD-11. Hope to see you on the ship- let's get a drink or something!(anyone else???)

01-26-2005, 06:59 AM
Mickeyworld, definitely let's get together on the ship! This is what I was hoping for with this thread, that we can have some pre-arranged friendships even before we board. We've done 3-nights before, so I'm figuring with seven nights on ship we'll get to know some people, but this works even better. One of my biggest fears has been that our tablemates will be wonderful people who, unfortunately for us, never show up for dinner, leaving mom and daughter to make conversation alone every night. Good to know people to meet in the evenings, poolside, etc.

Hi Juliet T - I have a DD age 8 and another DD age 11.
Mickeyworld - What time is your flight out of Florida? We are leaving at 9 pm. We thought about going to WDW but weren't sure if we had enough time. Were you able to get car service for all the legs of your trip? If you don't mind me asking, who did you book?
Can't wait to get on ship! I'm up for a drink too!!!

02-04-2005, 07:09 PM
Hi Carole,
We aren't leaving Florida until 10:50! Couldn't resist the added day and the flight was cheaper, too! We booked Tiffany Towncars-$250.00 for all of it. They are picking us up at the airport and taking us to the Radisson, then we'll take the Radisson transport to the boat.
THen they are picking us up, taking us to WDW for the day, then picking us up at the end of the day and tking us bak to the airport.
We have used Tiffany before, they were great!

And of course I should begin packing but like always I will be packing the night before. I think I will add an extra day to my vacation and take off the friday before b/c I will prob be running around buying stuff.

Count us in for this cruise. We are flying out of LaGuardia friday night into MCO and staying at the Raddison. Rented a car through Budget. DH and I have a DS12. I have not noticed any other teenage males on this trip. REAS is booked, so, we may lounge around the pool at the hotel and wait for the boarding rush to subside. This is our 3rd Disney cruise and we are really looking forward to it! We are supposed to get more snow on Thursday so I just might start getting things to pack set in a pile. I look forward to seeing the mailman every day now waiting for the documents. Time is flying by, see you there!

We will be leaving for Florida a few days early, so our trip starts in about two weeks. Now I can go shopping for cruisewear for DS. I didn't want to shop ahead of time because at his age (he will turn 2 during the cruise), he goes through growth spurts and outgrows his clothes really fast! Anyway, I love the pressure of last minute shopping.
We are thinking about doing the following on our own (i.e. not with the Cruise Line) :
St. Martin - Visit the Butterfly farm and Marigot
St. Thomas - Spend the day at the beach. We have not selected a beach yet, but finalists are Magens Bay, Coki Beach and Sapphire Beach.
Castaway Cay - Beach Day!
Additional ideas/recommendations of what to do while onshore with a toddler will be appreciated.
On a separate note, does anyone know which other cruise ships will be docking with the Magic in St. Martin and St. Thomas?

Hi there Disboard - bet you as excited as us! We leave 25th for a back-to-back on the Magic. The Mariner of the Seas,Star Princess, the Zandam,Costa Atlantica are all listed to be docked in St. Thomas next week, so will probably be the same on our cruise. Here is a link for you to look at:
www.usvi-on-line.com/cruiseschedules.shtml
Marigot isnt terribly exciting for youngsters, but does have a rather nice market. I think we only paid a few dollars for a taxi to get us there before.

We got our Docs today after a Big Panic! when we called to ask about when our Docs would come and it turned out that our TA had lost track of our reservations! We thought they'd been paid for (had given them our credid card number, etc) and it somehow didn't go through and they never contacted us to find out why we hadn't paid! However, things got worked out and we have our same room, so whew! Probably lost any chance of an upgrade though (since we'd originally booked early /and/ it's my hubby's b-day on the cruise). So I will pout, but only a little bit.

Peanutgirl, I'm so jealous of your upgrade, since we did get the category 12 we signed up for (this is probably the only time there's ever disappointment in getting what you asked for!). Since we didn't book until last month, maybe we bumped you out of your 12 room. Enjoy!

02-18-2005, 04:16 PM
Our upgrade was from a guarantee 12 to a 9 on deck number 1, so it is the 2 porthole and not the one big one. I forget the exact number and I am not at home to look but it was not a noisy room in the passporter so that is good.
I do not really care about the room because i do not plan on spending much time there, but the split bathroom will be nice.

We will also be on the March 5th cruise. We are very excited!!! It's our first Disney cruise. There will be 4 of us, myself, DH, DS-9, DD-6. We are flying out from Dallas the day before and will rent a car to stay at a hotel close to the port.
I have been looking at the shore excursion brochure and was wondering what other ex-Disney cruisers had done. There are 2 things I want to do at the port: some beach time & getting to know the island a little. Does anyone has similiar plan? What did you decided on? shore excursion or do it on your own? Is it difficult to go to the beach and tour the island on your own?
Also, for those that did the REAS before, is it worth the cost? Did anyone do the comparision between paying for the spa separately and booking the Palo reservation on your own? We don't really care for the gift basket & chocolate (not a chocolate lover ;-) ). The only reason I am considering the REAS is for the Palo reservation. Thanks.

Cruise4ever - Dont worry too much about booking Palo! Our daughter works there and there are ALWAYS cancellations during the week. Hello out there:
Been lurking on this thread a short time, can't hold back the excitement!!!
DW (Drise) booked 14 months ago, locked into cat 9 connecting rooms, we have 15 going on this magical journey (don't know how to fit them all, LOL).
To answer one question, the following ships are scheduled in port on the same days. USVI has not posted whether Magic will port or tender, probably won't have that info till the 2nd of March.
St Thomas:
Ship Date Arrive Depart
1. Royal Caribbean Mariner Of The Seas 3/9/2005 07:00AM 06:00PM
2. Radisson Seven Seas Radisson Diamond 3/9/2005 07:00AM 06:00PM
3. Princess Cruises Star Princess 3/9/2005 08:00AM 06:00PM
4. Holland America Line Zaandam 3/9/2005 07:00AM 06:00PM
5. Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic 3/9/2005 08:00AM 04:30PM
6. Costa Cruise Lines Costa Atlantica 3/9/2005 07:30AM 05:00PM
St. Martin:
1. Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic 3/8/2005 08:00AM 07:00PM
2. Radisson Seven Seas Radisson Diamond 3/8/2005 08:00AM 06:00PM
Got the snorkle fins today, jellyfish wipes and now we're set. Got the docs Mon of last week, no upgrade. Didn't expect it with connecting rooms. Looking forward to getting out of Philly with snow expected tomorrow. Told DS that we are getting snow now, and will be in air conditioning in 2 weeks.
BTW, DS6 said not to expect any Micky bars for anyone else, he intends to eat every one on the ship. Got the door signs all ready. Perhaps we could PM someone to get a list of who is going on the trip and cabin numbers and coordinate a DIS meet either Sat afternoon just after the sail away, or more likely on Sun morning sometime near 10:00 am.

Just jumping on this thread as we are on this cruise also! Myself, DH, DD12 & DGD7. We are arriving early Friday morning (redeye out of Seattle). I booked a room in the airport area so we could get to bed as soon as we land. Planning on maybe going to Ohana's for dinner that night and driving to the port on Sat. morning.
We aren't planning any formal excursions except DD12 & I have a horseback ride on the beach planned for St. Martin. Then to the butterfly farm for an hour and then Orient beach.
We are going to just have a beach day on St. Thomas. So far, planning on going to Magan's.
Just decided that since it's first cruise for DGD that we didn't want to be locked in to anything. Just hoping to go with the flow and have some relaxing time!!

Around the World in 80 days
Ladder 49
Incredibles
Mr. 3000
National Treasure
Princess Diaries 2
I called b/c we were planning to take ds(5) to see the new Pooh movie and figured if they were showing it on the cruise I'd save a couple of bucks??? She didn't mention it and I got another call and I forgot to ask. Saw another thread and someone saw it on their cruise last week?
Oh well I haven't seen most of them anyways!!!

I hope pooh is playing, we havn't been going to see that for the same reason,I had seen on a previous thread that someone saw it there. I doubt that it would only be playing for a couple of weeks so I'm guessing it has to be there.
I hope it is as of that list there's only 1 other I would take our son(5) and daughter(3) to.

We are looking forward to seeing "Pacifier" on-board. It opens on the 4th of March and it is Disney, so I hope it is on-board.

Just wanted to wish you all a very safe journey on your way to the Magic: we will be leaving very soon, as we join the ship on Saturday for our 2 week back-to-back. We may not know details of the "meet" before we leave home, so keep an eye out for us "Brits". Hopefully by then, we will be sporting a tan!Best wishes to all. See you very soon. Happy sailings. Hi there! I am also on the March 5th sail date. Coming out of St. Louis. I've been reading the threads and thought I may as well say hello!
I got our documents about 2 weeks ago. I also didn't get an room upgrade (we were cat8) BUT..... when I called for some room details I was told over the phone we were upgraded to a cat4!!! I guess that happened after the documents arrived.
Anyone else a single parent? Its been a tradition for the last 3 years that my husband and I go to Disney with my parents and take our daughter (who is 5 this year.) Unfortunately, the husband had a mid life crisis and we got divorced this fall. So now its just me, my 5 year old and my parents. From what I understand, the kids spend most of their time at activities. I'm worried I'll be a lone alot!

Hi carl021, I am a single mom too- my DH passed away suddenly three years ago and he was the total Disney addict, we carry his memory with us as we enjoy the magic!
This is our second cruise (paul(DH) was with us on the last one!) and we are travelling with another family. There are four kids with us, my 2 DD 11 and 14, a family friend who is 14, and a 12 year old DD with the other family.
You will never feel alone unless you want to be- our kids LOVE the clubs, but check the navigator daily and you'll find lots to do.
To everyone.....
I'd like to meet with the other DISer's on this thread- Sunday morning seems more sensible since we will be rushing around on Sat. getting ressies and dancing away on the Sailaway party!
Sunday sounds good- anyone want to pick a place or time????? :cool1:
WE ARE SOOOOOOO CLOSE!

Since no one is taking the bait, might as well do it myself.
I suggest that a DIS meet be held on Deck 10 on Saturday at 3:00pm near the Mickey Pool (since that where some of the kids might be). Strictly a meet and greet (plus a few foo foo drinks is applicable). Get your lime green Mickey Heads at Home Depot or some other tag to identify yourself (and your DIS name).
Alternative meet could be on Sunday at 11:00 also on Deck 10 near the pool. There might be some activities going on then that you might miss, or in turn send someone there.
By my count there are 17 DIS'rs on the Boat, the list is as follows:
Mickeyworld
Kcarl021
Natdencro
Zacsmom
Lazarru
Mommyz
Jdm
Peanutgirl
Zeldacruiser
Drise (Me)
Carol88
Footnotegirl
Cruise4ever
Disneyboard
Profjenn
Pncped
Jule T
Anyone else feel free to add on.
If you want you can PM me and I'll be glad to prepare a name list that has the family, kids and cabin numbers if desired, and bring copies to the meet.
Also try to do your door signs, bring any magnet to attach them to the doors.
Expecting 10" of snow today so can't wait for the warm weather.

HI, I'm running really behind so I haven't had time to surf this discussion. I'm joining in late. I'm a single mom with a 4 year old son and a 7(8 on 3/12) daughter. I would also be interested in meeting some of the other single parents. Also, I was considering Palo and didn't know if they would even allow a reservation for one. I would enjoy doing any or all of the Palo brunch, tea or dinner. Hopefully someone is more organized than me and will have time to read this before we leave. Lots of snow here too, can't wait for warm weather.

drise,
Thanks for putting some things together. It is nice to see that someone else is either a little organized or has too much time on their hands. I have been checking around and making a list also, and I found some extra names. They are : happycruiser, lizardbeth61, hokies and keaton.
By now, my son thinks I am totally nuts because I have made door signs, business cards and the green mickey heads. Wait till we get there and he sees the bubbles, glow sticks and mickey hands.
I checked a Navigator, and am unsure if I will make 3:00 at the pool. We are coming down the day before and plan on spending some of Saturday at the beach. We also have the REAS package, so I am not in a huge rush because my ressies are done. I know that I want some shrimp at lunch though, so we have to get there by 2:00. If I don't catch you at the pool Saturday at 3:00, I will see you at the meet on Sunday. Maybe you can get a note to natdencro, look for the tan people, because they are already on the ship.
Well, I gotta go. I still have tons of things to do but yet have to make it look like I am doing my job here. See you Saturday!

Seems like only the day before yesterday that we were sunning ourselves on Castaway Cay - oh, wait, it WAS the day before yesterday! Actually, the limited sun on Castaway Cay was a bummer, but I would feel bad for complaining after every other day being so sunny and beautiful - what a cruise! Sorry we didn't make it to the meet, but we were among the unfortunates stuck in the parking lot during the bomb scare.

Well, we sure had an adventure that I can say.
SAT - We ended up on the bus for 3 hours because of the whole bomb thing and by the time we got to our room and got in about 20 minutes of swimming time, my 5 year old fell dead asleep and I missed the first night's show and dinner! :sad1: Our luggage didn't make it to the stateroom until almost 9:30, and our shore excursion tickets NEVER showed up. I snuck out of the room to try to tour the ship a bit and to book Tea with Wendy, which was completely full by then. I ended up ordering room service and bucket of beer and hanging out watching TV in the room while my daugher slept.
SUN - My daughter woke up the next morning with a 103 degree fever! Thanks goodness we were upgraded to a Cat4 on Deck 8 because that was closest to the food and the beverage station and I was apparently going to spend more time in the room then I had planned. Around noon I finally got her up to try the pool and couldn't find a chair or anything :crowded: and then ended up slipping on the pool deck and really hurting my arm. My parents were with me so I took some time to myself on Deck 10 and spent about 20 minutes bawling my eyes out. I booked a facial in the spa and the gal there was so high pressure, trying to get me to buy all sorts of products that I simply hadn't budgeted for, it was really uncomfortable. :headache: I also booked a Cabana Massage for Castaway Cay, hoping my daughter would feel better by then. I missed the Golden Mickey Show because my daughter was asleep but I did get her up for Formal Night which was a complete disaster - I should have stayed in the room with her. Went back to the room by 9:30 and just went to bed. :guilty:
MON - Still 103 degree fever, but now she is complaining she wants to go to the kids area. I refused to take her until the fever was gone and all she did was mope and cry. I am sure she wasn't having any fun at all. I did get a chair at the pool and let her swim for a while. After a nap she was re-energized and even though I missed the Hercules show, we did get to go to Animators Palate and she seemed to enjoy that. Back to the room and asleep by 10:00.
TUE - we had a shore excursion in St. Maartens to Orient Beach. Fever down to 101. Day wasn't too bad, actually had a bit of fun on the beach until my father lost his glasses in the ocean, decided to take a walk down the beach, and ended up getting lost for 30 minutes, right at the time the buses were taking us back to the ship. We barely made the last bus - he was so lost! On the way back, our bus almost hit a goat and almost got involved in a head on collision with another vehicle. Of course by then we were all tired and crabby and didn't make any of the shopping. Went to the shore excursion desk and they were kind enough to cancel our shore excursion for St. Thomas. Considering I had a sick kid I wasn't going, even if I had to pay for it! But they let me cancel after a bit of pleading - I think they saw in my eyes I was about to lose it. They even gave me free Children's Motrin (which I used all of!) I took my daughter to see the Pooh movie and I did get to make the Pirates in the Carribean Dinner pirate: so I was happy. Still, in bed by 10:30.
WED - FEVER BROKE! :rotfl: Oh boy was I excited. Still had to get up and so that whole present ourselves to customs thing, but since we canceled our excursion, we didn't have to go until last thing. Since the fever broke, I finally let her go to the Kids Club for a bit and once she was there I could NOT get her to leave. I think so many days of sleeping brought out all of her energy and I know she was tired of mom by then. So we left her and went shopping in St. Thomas. Bought some nice diamonds- good trip! Went back to pick her up and she had no desire to leave - Goofy's sleepover was that night. I got to see the show finally and did make it to my dinner seating. FINALLY, a decent day! :teeth:
THU - we had the character breakfast in the morning and got out about 10:15ish. I decided to cancel my 11:00 Cabana Massage for the next day (too much money spent in St. Thomas!) and the gal in the spa wouldn't LET ME! Now granted, it was close, but it still WAS 24 hours notice. She said she would try to rebook it and if she could she wouldn't charge me but otherwise I needed to show up or be charged. She said she would call to let me know. I was pissed, I don't think I will ever go back to the spa again personally. Other than that, Thursday was pretty good - my daughter wanted to swim and we got a lot of that in, even though by then, some of the parents and kids were getting just plain cranky and tired. In fact, the parents were acting worse than the kids most of the time! I got to see the show that night and I did get to go to the Piano Bar and see the Comedian in the Rockin D Bar as well as do the 70's Dance Party. :rockband: That little Travis from South Africa was such a stitch! I ended up picking up my daughter from the kids area at about 12:30 and she was wide awake and having a blast! Best day of the cruise!
FRI - woke up early to get a good seat at Castaway Cay. Boy was it cold! :cold: Showed up for my Cabana Massage but they had booked someone during my time and neglected to inform me. :headache: Left the Island early, it was too cold and I didn't want to risk any more illness! My daughter did the Graduation thing from the Kids Club and of course, wouldn't leave afterwards. I ended up picking her up at 10:00 hoping to catch the farewell show in the atrium, but she was out cold.
I know I am missing some stuff here because I also got to see the Pacifier (which was AWFUL!), I lost my drivers license at some point and my mother lost her birth certificate, but who is keeping count anymore? :rotfl2:
All that being said - we booked another trip for next year! The lady who took care of our room knew my daughter was sick and bent over backwards to give her a great time, even though she barely left the room for days. She took really great care of me too, knowing I was going through hell with my daughter being so sick! Our servers in the dining room were so thoughtful and helpful and accomodating. The activites coordinators (Especially Travis :lovestruc) were always there helping to get you involved, and the counselors for the kids were amazing.
Next year we are doing the Western Side and I personally can't wait! My finacee and I are even considering getting married on the ship (he couldn't make it this year... :groom: :bride: ) Let's hope for no bomb scares, no fevers, and definitely, no spa appointments!
I'd love you hear your stories! :earsgirl:
