Has anyone had the misfortune to leave from Heathrow Airport lately.

I dropped a firend off there today who was flying out to New York with Virgin Altantic - Although her flight was not until 3pm, we were told by the travel agent to arrive early to check in and collect her tickets. Collecting the tickets was fairly easy and only took 5 minutes in total.

The Nightmare began when she was told to join the queue at check in. Well this queue was absolutely massive everyone who was going to America (and it did'nt matter where they were travelling to in America) was in this line - it took an over an hour and a half to get to the check in desk, and we joined this queue at 9.25am - the total lack of any order for the Virgin flights is disgusting.

What is this company spending all their profits on - its certainly not being used at Heathrow Airport. All I can say is Thank heavens for Gatwick Airport, I will never complain again about Gatwick airport being to far to travel too.

My other gripe with Heathrow Airport is the prices for parking - We had to pay twelve pounds and 30p to park for 3 hours. I would'nt mind so much but the car park was one of the worse I 've seen in a long time.

A word of advice to Mr Money Bags at Heathrow Airport, have a day off from behind your desk - and take a good hard look at your Airport, talk to your customers as their opinions whether good or bad will help make Heathrow a better place to travel from.

I've never been to Heathrow but that doesn't sound very good Maureen. I do however seem to recall being charge about £20 to park at Gatwick for 5 hours, which I also thought was very dear - mind you, you're a captive market aren't you?

It isn't just Virgin - to be fair to them.

American are the same and BA do this is terminal 4 (although they break down into 4 'zones' depending on route.

What annoys me is queing for over an hour and just as you reach the front, they start dragging people out from behind you in the queue as their flight is about to close. I have had serious thoughts about turning up 15 minutes before check-in closes in future and being taken directly to the front.

We flew to NY with Virgin at Easter.

Our experience was the complete opposite.

Check out opened and there were at least 8 or 9 check in staff. It took 10 minutes and we were about 40 in the queue.

We parked off site and got the mini bus in.

We found heathrow huge but well laid out but whwn we couldn't find the Virgin Clubhouse and staff member took us there rather than give us directions.

I find Gatwick a flea pit airport.
