Knoebel's meet, 8/13 (now official!)

I'm considering a return trip to Knoebels this summer. We have unused tickets from Memorial Day weekend. I didn't ride many rides that day and missed my annual ride on Phoenix.

I was thinking I would get there sooner than 8/13, but that might be a good day for DD and me. And, the date is just a few weeks away now.

Count 2 for the meet.

I did get a $3 discount coupon on the loaf of bread I just bought. I believe it is Sunshine brand. The wrapper is orange - I buy the cheapest. It was on sale at Giant Eagle.

Currently 60-70% chance of showers throughout the day Friday. I was just looking at the by the hour forecast on weather.com. If it comes down to 40-50% I'd be happy.

Update on the weather...

As of this morning (updated midnight, so I'll have to look again) there is a few late morning hours with 80% chance of rain. The good news is that 4pm no longer shows rain, but partly cloudy. :teeth: Perhaps If TS Bonnie continues to fizzle we won't have much, if any rain to dampen our fun.

If the 80%s are still there for the bulk of the morning/afternoon when I check the weather at 6-7am Friday morning, I highly doubt I'll be going. I won't make my decision until then.

I have a second set of radios, that I just bought and was planning on returning to the store, if anyone needs radios, I could charge the batteries and bring them, they have a 2 mile range and 22 chanels 38 sub codes, you can see them on the Boscovs web site..

The travel may not be great, but we may luck out. My ownly fear is the potential for flash floods tonight. You do know the park's history with flooding, right?

I'm out. SORRY! I really, really wanted to go and meet you all, but I just got off the phone with DD's friend and her mom and we agreed it's not worth the trip. I'd have to drive through the worst of the rain to get there, only to wonder if the rides will be open. I'm concerned that the creek will bill high and may flood the park. Do you know how mad I'll be if it turns out to be not such a bad day? Mickey88 - please send my apology to Barry. I hope you are able to enjoy the park.

If any of you want to try again in a weekend or two, let me know. When I decide which day I'll post a new thread. I'd like to sneak in a trip before school starts....I'll post a feeler thread in a bit - look for it if interested.

Missed you KarenB (and pooh67_68)! The weather played in our favor. I drove through some sprinkles, but nothing compared to the rain overnight. It stayed cloudy, but warmed up, warmer than expected.

It got really dark and stormy looking here in the morning, then it ended up being an okay day afterall. (yes, I was then kicking myself for not heading over :mad: ) But I did get to talk to my MIL in the Fort Meyers area to make sure they made it through Charley, which I wouldn't have if I went.

Thanks Dan. Can you believe I used a $50 Vivitar Vivacam? The camera takes nice outdoor photos, but even though it has a flash, I can't take a decent indoor pic.

turnout was small but those in attendance had fun, the weather started out questionable, but the rain held off and the sun came out later in the day ,

hopefully next year we can have a larger Knoebels meet..
