So we just returned from the Polynesian and had breakfast our last day at Kona Cafe. My husband got the tonga toast and it is as good as everyone says. We ordered a french-pressed pot of coffee and I must say, it was the best coffee I have ever had! It was rich, strong, but mellow, which is a combination that is very unusual. Be sure to try it if you find yourself at Kona!

Thinking about lunch there at Kona...who has done that? Is there still great coffee then? I am from New Orleans where the Java is strong so it sounds wonderful!! what else is good for lunch???::yes::

Hey, LATigger, I did have lunch at Kona one day, too. I got the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich and it was great! My husband got a burger which was good too. Although I didn't have coffee at that time, I saw the table next to us enjoying the french-pressed pot, so it is available at lunch. Have fun! :)

Many thanks Saphire...we wil try to put it on the itinerary. The Mahi-Mahi sounds great. And thanks to all of the coffee folks out there that listed lots of places to get a fix!

FYI - you can get a press pot at Jiko (at AKL) and I believe Boma (also AKL)
VERY good coffee!

Love the coffee. My tonga toast was soggy the last time so I'm now a bit cautious. :(
