Hi, I'm new on here and we're planning a WDW trip at the end of Dec. I've been saving up and with 4 DS and 1 DD I'm an avid coupon clipper! I was wondering if there is a coupon train that isn't full for the Southeast area (around NC) that I could get in on, or if anyone would be interested in one. I saw another post about some other coupon trains, but they looked like they were full.

I have gotten a wealth of information from these boards! Thank-you all! I am so excited for this trip, it's my kids' Christmas present this year and they can't wait. :earsgirl:

If you are interested in organizing a coupon train, I'd be very happy to join...or if you don't want to organize it, I could. Just let me know...I'm in NW Florida.

Happy Clipping!

Trola2,
I don't really know anything about organizing one, but I was willing to figure it out if anyone was interested so since you're offering I'd like to take you up on it! Or work with you on it. Just let me know what you need. I think we need eight to ten people total, does that sound about right?

Do you have to be in the south for this or can anyone join? If it's open to anyone, I'd like to join.

I don't think it will matter where you live as long as you don't mind waiting a couple extra days for the coupons to reach you in the mail. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

It looks like we have four people (including me) interested right now. I would like to wait until Aug 1st. to see if we can get 4 or 5 more people before we start, then I will PM everyone for info. That sound okay?

Sounds good. Let me know when you're ready for my info.

Ok...I'll put it together, then!!

I will start it out and there will be an instruction letter in the envelope.

So, if you are interested, PM me with your snail info. Anywhere in the US is fine and I'll arrange the train to sort of run geographically so it won't be going from end to end between stops. (Did that make sense??)

I will PM those of you who have already posted but anyone can PM me.

Happy Clipping!

I'd like to know this too. thanks

I'll try to explain this. A coupon train is basically where you send out what coupons you have, then the next person takes out the ones they need and puts in the ones they have that they don't need and sends it out to the next person in the train, then the next person does the same thing and so on. If everyone is good at keeping it going it's a great way to get coupons.

Since I'm new at all of this Trola2 will be the contact person (thank-you) for snail mail addresses and she will be sending out info. as she posted earlier.

My sister also wants to join our coupon train, although she doesn't visit the boards, it looks like we're going to have enough people soon.

Everyone check your PM's. I have PM'ed everyone who has PM'ed me. (I think!) It looks like we have 2 trains to send out. I'll telleveyrone for sure very soon.

Berkshires96- I can't PM you. Maybe someone else can help with this but I think maybe you have PM's switched off in your user settings?? I'm not that familiar with the technical stuff, but I'm sure someone else can jump in. I just see that there is no PM button under your name.

sconnell, we still have room for you. Let me know if you are interested.

Have a great evening everyone!

Once upon a time, a very long time ago, I used to be a coupon queen and did not have to pay for my groceries for several years.

We used to have conventions where we would swap refund forms and coupons and have a most delightful time.

Then one day along came the evil code form junkies who ruined it all. (sigh)

I miss the old friends even more than the free food.

Just the two of us now and since I have lost about 90 pounds there are not many coupons I can use anymore or I would ask for a seat on the train.

Good luck and have fun!

If there is any room left, I would love to join the coupon train. I thought I was on the original train #3, but it appears to have fizzled out before it ever got to me. I have GOBS of coupons!

Just PM me.:D

Trola2, I taught classes in this stuff locally for years and the number one hint is organization. If you cannot find the coupon easily chances are you will not use it.

I always went through mine the beginning of the month and took out all the ones that were going to expire so I would be able to use them.

If you are buying an item that you do not really want or need it is not a bargain, unless you are getting it for free or so cheaply and can pass it on to a local food bank or someone needy.

I used to keep my coupons in a small suitcase back in the day cause I had so very many but now use a photo album where you can slip the coupons in and out. I keep a pencil keeper in the back to put the coupons I pull when I am shopping to make it easier at the register and I am not as likely to drop them.

If you check a recycling place you can often get permission to get extra coupon sheets as they are not easily recycled- or at least it used to be.

I love to see you younger people using coupons and such. Means more disney trips. LOL If there is anything I can do to help please ask.

I PM'd you Trola2. Looks like you have a lot of takers! I have a question- on this train do you keep recycling coupons- ie do you send it out over and over again or is it a one time shot?

I'm not sure what Trola2 would like to do, but I was under the impression that this was one to send it out over and over again, at least that's what I'd like it to be.

Slightlygoofy, thanks for the great tips, I like the one about putting the ones your going to use in a pencil case, I usually carry mine and end up picking them up off the floor ten times before I check out :( . I'll definitely be trying that one next time.

I like to be useful. LOL I also tie several colored pieces of yarn to the ring of the binder to keep track of what categories I have already done on a shopping trip. I have index labels on each section and as I go that area of the store I pull out the yarn sting and when all the strings are out I know I am done.

Keep an eye on your coupons. I have had friends either forget or have their coupons stolen. Is sad but true.

I'm not sure completely what a coupon train is, but I think I have an idea. Can somebody pm me to let me know what I need to do to join?

Thanks!

Slightlygoofy- thank you for the tips...your methods and experiece are certainly an inspiration! Please feel free to share anything that you think of!!

Now for everyone else...

The response has really been awesome to this thread. There are a few PM's sitting in my box that I haven't answered yet. I will, so just hang on. I usually respond fast but I can tell you I will be gone almost all day on Thursday, so don't panic if you don't hear back from me until Friday!

My plan is to divide us into groups of 6 and we will be a continuous train and keep recycling for as long as we can keep it going. Let's plan to stick with coupons that are redeemable at grocery and discount stores...no coupons for buying ornaments through the mail and stuff like that and also, let's not include restaurant coupons. With the train hitting different areas of the country, our restaurants will vary quite a bit. Does this sound good to everyone??

Ok...I know a couple of you mentioned having quite a few coupons on hand....anyone willing to be a train "conductor" and start it off? If so, let me know and I'll PM you with a list of 6 names and that will include your name. I'll keep a master list, but we'll get things started faster if anyone else wants to start one off.

I think we are probably looking at 4 trains and maybe more if anyone else wants to join. BTW, if anyone new is reading this, you can still sign up...just PM me and when I get 6 names, I'll either start you out, or ask one of the 6 to start it...

Also, Please try to keep the packet for only 3-4 days. That way it should cycle back to you about monthly. I know some will pass it on in a day, but others may hold it for 3 or 4, but if you've had it 7, please pass it on!! If you decide you don't want to participate, scratch your name off the list when you send it to the next person. If anyone drops out of your train, let me know and we'll come up with someone to add in.

Again, I'm open to suggestions so if anyone wants to post here or PM me, please do!!

Can we get started in this Monday's mail? Again, let me know if youwill be a conductor!
