Looking into the Tampa Bay area before WDW....now what??

Where should we stay?? What are some top attractions that we should see?? We aren't interested in doing Bush Gardens as we will be spending 10 days afterward at WDW. We will be catching at least one game of Tampa Bay baseball as well and will be there for about three days. Any suggestions would be appreciated because I'm a bit overwhelmed!!

Have you considered Sarasota? It's about an hour south of Tampa. They have beautiful beaches - Siesta Key, Lido Beach and a lot to see and do. Selby Botanical Gardens, Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, Ringling Museum of Art, Circus Museum,
Ca d'Zhan(home of John & Mabel Ringling), Ed Smith Stadium(Chicago White Sox spring training site). Lots of stuff to do. It's really beautiful.
