My wave petunias look leggy and very sad....I gave them a haircut...hope it helps.
Does anyone have any other great advice besides tossing them?

Giving them a haircut usually helps, Amid.
Great advice.....tossing them.....sounds like the gina school of gardening....:teeth:

Mine started to look a little ragged too. A haircut and lots of fertilizer usually makes them happy. :sunny: :sunny:

Odds are they are not the same wave petunias you bought in previous years. Pan American seed and Kirin Brewery Co have introduced several new petunias in the past 2 years with the Wave name and they are very different in thier garden preformance. One is called 'easy wave ' and was specifically bred for growers to maximize profits ( this plant blooms earlier on shorter days and does not spread/cover like Wave does so they can grow more per square foot of bench)
Easy Wave, Tidal Wave and the newer colors of Wave( white, shell pink , salmon ect) do not preform like the original Purple and Pink Wave. Growers are supposed to clearly mark the new varieties for consumers but rarely do.

I didn't know that Shrubber, thank you for the info! :)
I don't have any Wave petunias, but my Mom does. I'm going to double check the tags (if I can still find them), and see if I can find out which ones she has. I do remember that they were supposed to be blue, but are really, a very dark purple.
I hope your petunias spruce up for you, Vanessa! :)
You know, if I'm not happy with how one of my plants are performing (I'm talking a container planting here), and they don't improve with some TLC and sweet talk, I do what Gina does....lol. Actually, I move them to the side of the house, the "service area." :) The service area is where we keep our water barrel, buckets of different sized stones, etc.

That's in our service area also, Vanessa!!! ::yes:: :flower:
I guess I should say our composters, as we have two. :)
A good pruning should return the

to your petunia's.
