Well, we needed the rain. And we got it. And the weeds came....out in droves.
Sigh. I love my garden but this is right about the time I really wish I didn't have to spend any work time out there. I hate to weed in the heat and humidity.
And, yes, I've tried preen. Damned weeds must be immune.
Oh, well....I guess I know what I'll be doing in the next few days.....

Okay, I'm going to be the party pooper here!
We've had lots of rain, in fact, this is the first time in years that our grass has looked so good, but the weeds haven't really been a problem. I yank them everytime I do the garden patrol, and if I miss one, DH is sure to spot it.
Gina, you need to put your DS to work! Maybe increase his allowance as an incentive? :smooth: :teeth:

I hate having to deal with weeds also. It seems like they never go away.

At the Philadelphia Flower show there was a display about "new" weeds that are taking over areas. The one that impressed me the most was one that has heart shaped morning glory type leaves and grows up to a foot a day in the correct conditions. Well, it's in Ohio, and it's growing along my fence. I noticed it last year and let it go because I had planted some moonflower seeds that a friend gave me. Moonflowers are in the morning glory family and so that's what I thought I had, well, there were no discernable flowers and when I saw that display at the Flower Show, I immediately recognized what I have, a terrible weed. So, I do my best to get rid of it.
So, I'm joining you in the weed pulling brigade!

bobbiwoz, the weed that you are talking about. Does it have a stickiness to it?

mommytotwo, it wraps itself around the posts very tightly. If there's stickiness, it's a dry sort of stickiness, I'll have to think about describing it better, there's not lots of sap, but a definite feeling.

Sounds like the type of weed that we have here that is really hard to get rid of. If so, it's one that needs to be pulled out by the roots or else it comes back to visit often.
