....... don't get me wrong, I enjoyed eating there and I'd definitely go back. But I was expecting alot of exotic and spicy food. Instead I found the majority of food to be bland. Maybe I was just expecting too much.

Seems like a lot of the spicy stuff was available "on the side"; there were some dipping sauces that were 5-alarm caliber.

I think Boma's doggone good, but DW was not overwhelmed. "Glad we did it," she said, "but I don't necessarily need to do it again."

Sometimes you'll have restaurants talked about like they were the Second Coming, or something ... and there's no way they can come up to the hype.

As my daddy used to say, "That's why they make Fords and Chevrolets and Chryslers - not everybody likes the same thing."

My husband would give the food a thumbs up. I liked some of it but also thought it kinda spicy. We went back again this past year just because we liked this waiter that we had. Wish I could remember his name. Sooooo darn funny!!

not sure which meal you had at boma, but we had breakfast and will not make the effort to get there again. we are onproperty w/out a car and it was a real challenge to get to AKL. anyway. we were not all that impressed w/the buffet. if we are travelling w/friends who might want to try it, then we would go,but otherwise..............

I should have clarified ....... it was dinner at Boma...... Dreamfinder2 hit the nail on the head, I was so caught up in the hype of this restaurant and the idea of trying new and unusual foods that it would have been very difficult to meet my lofty expectations ....... having said that, I still would go back because it was a fun and a descent meal.

My family and I went to Boma's twice last week and were also mildly disappointed. There was no pork loin offered on Thursday which was the one of things we most enjoyed from last year. I had checked the rotation schedule to make sure we went on the night the pork loin was supposed to be offered. They also did not have the cocomisu on either night and that was my favorite dessert. We felt the quality was down a bit from last year, but we still think its one of the best places in DW and we love seeing walking around the lodge after dinner.

We were disappointed, and I think it was the hype more than anything.

We'd ate really well all week. Narcoosees, Le Cellier, Teppanyaki, Spoodles, Marrakesh. We finished our trip with Boma. And lets face it, buffet prime rib just isn't as good as what you are going to get at the type of restaurants we'd been to. I'd heard such good things about Boma - but it can't live up to Narcoosees. I wasn't terribly impressed with the selection on the buffet - the couscous at Marrakesh was better. The dessert bar was particularly disappointing to me.

The soups were exceptional. But it was akward to eat nothing but soup at a buffet

We were there on a Monday night(6/28) and we really liked it ,but were also looking for spicier and a little more adventurous. Don't get me wrong,we left full but it woulda been nice to try things more "African". I think WDW does the best they can so people still go to their restaurants. I do think they cater to the blander side of the taste spectrum.

Honestly, yes, I agree as well. We've been there twice for dinner with high expectations of unusual and exotically spiced foods, and while most of it is excellent, it's not spicy, or exotic, or really too unusual.

I'm hoping to get to Jiko for my birthday, though. Perhaps that'll meet with my expectations.

We went to Boma in April 2002 & LOVED it, was definitely a restaurant we'd go back to - So, we did. We went back Oct. 2003 & it was not as I remembered on our first trip. DH agreed that it had lost something, it just wasn't as good the 2nd time. We couldn't figure out if it was us or them.

My wife and myself ate there for the first time last Oct. and we were split on it. MY wife only liked some items while I liked everything I tried.

We had awesome service, and the atmosphere is so exotic, but we just plain didn't like the food!

We're glad we did it once, but we won't be gonig again.
