DIZNEWS: Disney is launching a product blitz that will put Mickey Mouse and the gang on cereal boxes, juice cartons and even bottles of plain water. The company will roll out a brand campaign -- headlined by "Magic Happens" television commercials that will air widely in September. JCPenney has an exclusive contract to commercialize "It's a Small World" beginning this fall. The line will feature clothing for toddlers, as well as backpacks, raincoats and umbrellas. Disney execs will draw the line, however, on certain merchandising ideas. Executives recently nixed a Mickey Mouse toilet seat that was in production, as well as car mats licensed in Thailand and a toilet freshener in Korea.

While I'm all in favor of using some of the less well known characters in product development, I don't know if "It's a Small World" would have been my first choice....

If they get the rights to the song, then "It's a Small world" is a great choice. That song sticks in everyone's heads for a long time (just typing this makes it go around in my head.) If they could tie product images for toddlers with that song, it would be worth the price.
