I Freeze my favorite fruits and use them to make smoothies instead of ice. Better taste, has vitamins, and doesn't get watery.

My favorite was always orange juice, frozen strawberries and a banana, with sugar to taste, blended with ice. Easy, refreshing & full of vitamins!

My kids are nuts  about mango.

Mango Smoothie
½ cup mango -- peeled and diced
½ cup plain nonfat yogurt
crushed ice
Brown sugar
Optional : sprig of fresh mint to garnish

Place mango, yogurt and ice in a blender or food processor and whirl away. taste a spoonful to see if it is sweet enough for you. If not you can add brown sugar and mix again. Pour into glass and garnish with a mint sprig if desired.

I have to confess we haven't used this one...I copied it to use for a Halloween party last year that never happened. The kids like smoothies so much, though, that I kept the recipe intending to try it one day this fall.

Pumpkin Smoothie
½ c canned pumpkin
¾ c milk or vanilla yogurt
¼ tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp brown sugar
4 ice cubes

Combine ingredients in blender and puree until smooth.
Pour the smoothies into small glasses (this drink is rich) and garnish each with a dollop of vanilla yogurt or whipped topping. For a fun touch, add a pinch of cinnamon or a few colored sprinkles. Serves 2 or 3.
