THE best drink at AKL

We got back about 1 1/2 weeks ago :sad: :sad: :sad:

But--we had the most wonderful time--we ate great--LOVED the AKL, but I have to let everyone know about a drink you have to try:

You can get this drink at the poolside bar called Uzima Springs at the AKL resort--it is called the Nyami Nyami!! I got one on our first afternoon lounging by the pool--and was hooked. I had to have one everyday after that. It is a delicious refeshing frozen drink with Amarulla (don't know what that is--maybe another name for Amaretto), Creme De Banana, vanilla, milk and crushed ice---DELICIOUS!!!

I just had to spread the news!!

The Lim Poo Poo (sp) they have on the menu at Bomas. Have that every time we eat there. Another 10 days and I will be there!

Nope, it isn't another name for Ameretto...it is a creamy liquor all of its own..beautiful bottle with african scene on the front.

I LOVE those! I had one every afternoon during our trip in May. We loved them so much, we bought a huge bottle of Amarula from the Mara. That stuff is amazing. It's the yummiest stuff I've ever had! It's similar to Bailey's, but much better! It's made from the South African Marula fruit. Our guide for the culinary tour at the AKL said they call it the elephant fruit, because the elephants love to eat the Marula fruit off the trees and then it firments in their stomachs and they actually get drunk off it! :hyper:

Can you buy Amarula at a regular old liquour store?? I can't believe I left without getting some--and to think I could have gotten some from Mara.

The African Margarita! They have some type of fruit juice (mango?) that makes them pink/red. Delicious!!!
Just thinking about them makes me want to go back.... hmmm, it IS our 15th wedding anniversary this year!

If you are a Bloody Mary drinker, the best Bloody Mary I have ever had is at Jiko. They are incredible!
