View Full Version : Just back from PBH
Stayed at PBH June 29-July 2. Last year we stayed at RPR. It was hard to compare as they both are beautiful full service hotels. The day we checked in the room was not ready yet at 3pm. They guaranteed me the room would be ready at 4pm so we just waited. At 4 pm room was still not ready so they said they would upgrade us to a Deluxe. (I had a garden view) We went to the room and after the bellman left we noticed it smelled of smoke. Sure enough there was an ashtray and matches on the table. I called front desk and they sent bellman back and moved us again. He gave us 5 free coupons for breakfast. Also he noticed I had a cooler with and asked if I would like a frig for the room. I asked the price and he said he would give it to us free for our entire stay for the problems we had checking in. Free breakfast and a free frig and I did not ask for anything! I thought this was very good of them. Our room was great. It had french doors that opened out to a ground level patio which over looked the villa pool. Pretty nice room considering I had a garden room booked. My wife and 3 kids loved this place. My 5 year old slept between beds on the floor. We used bed spread for him to lay on and extra blanket to cover him with. He loved it as he begs to sleep on the floor at home.We were in the Villa building in room 2270. I felt we were treated very well at this hotel and found small problems checking in to be well worth all the extras given me. If anyone has any questions let me know and I will try to answer.

Hey I was your neighbor! I just checked yesterday and we were in room 2280. The room was wonderful, but I did not have a good checkin experience. I thought the women was unfriendly. I had made ressie using my annual pass and as soon as I checked in the fist thing she asked for was the pass and my drivers license.I also thought my son was going to get one of those teen welcome packs but we didn't get that either. The grounds were beautiful, but don't be thirsty after 10 pm because all the shops close and there are no vending machines.

Amy - Could you describe the Bay room? How did you like it? Is the bath nice? View? Room to move around the bedroom?

We had ground floor .....right by the boat dock..the west wing....we did not have deluxe...the last time there we did...... the room was as big as the deluxe almost...the bathroom was big.....did not have separate shower like deluxe have...but was a big bathroom......the room had table and chairs and another like lounge chair......I liked the location...and I used the french doors in morning to go get coffee..so it was easy....hope this helps.... my husband said wished he was up higher....but we had a little like patio... i sat on... it was easy access to the stores...amy
alice in 1derland - I too found the woman at the front desk to be unfriendly. My wife mentioned this also. She offered us nothing. A man that was working with her offered us the free breakfast coupons. I got the impression she did not like it much. The bellman gave us the frig free of charge, not the front desk. I should mention we also got the milk and cookies and we were using a happenings rate. Once we finally got checked in everything was fine. Great room, great service. The rest of the staff we dealt with went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

What's a happenings rate?
sorry about that. I guess they call them entertainment rates now.Not happenings.

Thanks Amy! Your description is what I was hoping for. Are there not coffee makers in the room? Is the lounge chair you are talking about a Chaise lounge? How many sinks in the bathroom?

I think that there was a coffee maker in the closet...I always go over to the place that have the great coffee...my hubby likes cafe macha...so I did not get it out....one sink ...but there was alot of space to put stuff....the chair was a regular soft chair...not a...chair like around a table....amy:tongue:

We just got back from PBH and it was great. We checked in at 8:00a.m. just so we could have our room keys for FOTL and to our great surprise our room was ready. We used the Ent rate and still received our welcome gift and our kids club gift. Large room great view. We were in the east wing. We were kind of far from the boat and main pool. It was lovely though. There was a cabinet in the entryway with a coffee maker.:D

Wow you were lucky to get a welcome gift, I got nothing. I booked with an AP and I am also a Lowes First blue member. The woman at check- in also had a hard time getting my credit card to go through, and you would have thought I was a criminal the way she acted. I was not happy at all. When it finally did go through she still treated me like I was trying to cheat her. I guess I'm just use to Disney staff who are much more people friendly.

Does anyone know her name, or can describe her? We'll be there on Sunday (yippee!) and I want to be able to know who she is - IF she's still there!
Thanks for the info!

For the life of me I can't remember her name, but she had really long hair and an accent. Just for the heck of it I checked my credit card today to see if there was something wrong with it and I have a very tiny balance. The credit card company saw no reason why it wouldn't have gone through. Here I felt like a low life the whole weekend at the resort, like I wasn't good enough to be there. Maybe she doesn't like single moms!

Cocowum - Do you happen to know the name of the person who checked you in - maybe we all need to try to have this individual when we check in! Great customer service!

Could her name be Veronica? That is the name on my confirmation letter from the manager of reservations.

OMG! I think this is the same lady who checked us in in March. Redish, brown long hair (she was wearing it pulled back at the time). Slim build? I think her accent was Italian.
She was not too on the ball. She kept having to ask for my credit card back -- about 4x. Then she left my credit card on the machine, and I had to ask her for it back. She tried to say she already gave it to me.
She also gave us our room number before our room was ready (no big deal, but we learned later that they aren't supposed to give you your room # until you can actually have the room).
Plus, she promised to call us when our room was ready, and she never did.
Look for a lady with shorter red hair instead named Janet.

I was actually trying to find out the name of the person that checked in Cocowum who gave such great service because if that person is available, I'd rather check in with him/her.
