I wasn't sure what board to post this question on........... We will be staying for 9 nights at the SOG in Feb. '05. There are refigerators in the rooms, but no microwaves. Has anyone ever brought in a small mircrowave or toaster? Or is this not allowed? It would sure save us some $$$ on food.

We also own DVC, but want to do SOG this year. There are microwaves and toasters in the villas, so I would not think it would be against fire codes to have them.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

Use the microwave in the food court. Rooms aren't set up for cooking in your room.

There have been several long threads on cooking in your room--there are a lot of DISers who feel it is rude to subject other people in your hotel to food smells (hopefully this will not turn into another long thread on that topic!;) However, I would go with whatever SOG tells you--I would call them directly and ask if you can bring a microwave.

I never really thought about the cooking smells. I guess I am just spoiled from staying at DVC and just having those amenities.

It does not really matter as I know we have a fridge so we can do sandwiches and cereal.

Any kind of sandwich tastes great when you are at Disney World!

There are also heat resistant surfaces that they sit on, as well as fire extinguishers to use in the case of a fire. Not so with the regular rooms. Cooking appliances are not allowed in WDW rooms not specifically equipped for them.

As Safetymom suggested, feel free to use the microwaves in the food court.
