Jon,
I agree. I can't believe how bad the weather is for them. GC is so nice and to miss it must be a bummer. Lets hope for calm seas and sunny skies. :sunny:
When are you guys traveling?

I figure this week's cruise is getting all the bad weather out of its system :) The Eastern Carribean looks much clearer. Hopefully the lows that are causing the nasty weather here sweep through the eastern carribean and pull any clouds with it!
I didn't have any issues on our last cruise, but I"m bringing ginger tablets just in case . . .
Back painting cabinet doors . . .
Have a terrific day!

I agree calm seas and sunny. Checked the weather forecast for the day we are in St. Thomas, the forecast is partly cloudy 10% chance of precip and 86 degrees! Yeah!

Hey! We passed 1000 posts...now how come those rowdy 11/19 sailing folks have over 5000 in their thread?
I'm so hacked off right now! :headache: I got DS a new set of Dockers luggage on sale and with an extra $20 coupon on Saturday and when DW started to pack his stuff, don't you know one of the straps is broken! grrrrrrr Luckily we have his original Travelpro bag and DW says she only needs one checked bag for all her stuff!? hmmmm :scratchin more room/luggage allotment for me! :teeth: But at least now ONE of us is packed! :rotfl:
oy! so much to do! I thought I was ready to start packing then I noticed that all those new clothes I got (75% off all the summerwear during the October Sale ;) ) still had tags on them! So now I have more laundry to do. :worried:
Jonesing - Who do you work for? I'm a General Dynamics guy and love those Gulfstreams...well almost all of them.
I used to work for GD, before it imploded and the peices sopped up by everyone and their brother. Now, you would say I'm part of the Evil Empire :rotfl:

Kudos to your DW jonesing, for only needing one bag!! I know my dh is going to make me cut everything down when he sees how much I'm bringing.
Off to do more shopping . .. my formal dress is much tighter than I thought it would be :(

DW and I normally only need one bag each. However with all the Snorkel and Scuba equipment and drink stuff, we need an extra bag. Also with me actually packing some formal/semi-formal clothing the bags are bigger. Overall, we have 3 check in bags, one rolling soft-cooler and a duffel bag.

Sorry, no kudos for me :guilty:
DW packed the baby's stuff in one bag. She also says she is only going to need one (cheked) bag! ha! :p Keep in mind that she used space bags and vacuum sealed much of the baby's clothes.
I on the other hand, will probably need 2 or 3 checked...formal clothes, a bag for shoes (6 pair at last count, 5 if I don't go to the gym--there is a gym on board?)
BTW We aren't counting the carry-on since we have to have those for boarding.

Say, there are 2 bright/lime green paint ships at Home Depot! Which one should we use? Alien Green or Sonic Boom?

11-22-2005, 07:19 PM
I got Sonic Boom. Still not fully packed. :confused3 It's very chilly here. Is anyone bringing rain ponchos since the islands say scattered showers? Also, we're going on a snorkel excursion. Can anyone ease my fears about using snorkeling equipment that's been used by zillions of others? Please tell me they clean them well (or at least clean them).

The one time we rented snorkel equipment in Cozumel, you rented the mask and fins and you got a brand new snorkel to keep. Not sure it that is how it will be on other excursions.

Boo Mc - When we snorkled at Castaway Cay last time, they put the used snorkling equipment into bleach. Problem is that bleach eats plastic after awhile. That would explain the hole in my mouthpiece. Double check your gear before you swim all the way to the sunken Mickey sucking up salt water.
For those of you flying into Orlando on Friday, looks like the weather is picking up! The new high is 77 degrees and sunny! And I was beginning to wonder if we'd have to bring an extra pair of jeans and warm coats . . .
Got the boys their white shirts today. My 8 yo ds picked a reindeer tie to go with his suit for formal night. He's such a character.
See ya'll soon!

Well I got a manicure and pedicure today and picked up a new dress on sale at Dillards for formal night.
My Turkey day tradition is to pack until midnight. I haven't even thought about it yet. It's going to take a couple hours to get DD to narrow down the disney princess costumes to 2. She always wants to bring the entire collection.
Regarding snorkeling, we bought our own gear (mask, fins, snorkel) at Costco and bring it with. I hate the quality of the snorkel gear from the rental places and we snorkel so much on the islands - beaches etc. that it was cheaper. Note that we cruise a lot and snorkel enough to justify. IF you are worried about germs just bring some antibacterial to rub on everything.
Working on our room sign tonight... I hope the printer has enough color to make it!

I got the manicure and pedicure (with Mickey on my toes, of course) today also. I am packing tomorrow. We're flying out early Thursday morning from Los Angeles and I'm hoping that it will not be too crowded. :confused3
I'm excited, but a little nervous about remembering to bring everything. I guess I can always buy it there if I forget it!!!

Got my pedicure done last Saturday. Bought my son his dress shirt for formal night yesterday. I had hoped to get it to the dry cleaners for pressing today, but it didn't happen. Guess I will have to send it out right away when we get onboard, as I do not iron. I still have not packed, although, I have most everything set out on our guestroom bed. Went to Kinkos today to have our door sign laminated. I am planning to take off from work early tomorrow and try to get a massage done (DH bought me a gift certificate for my birthday). :teeth: Hopefully I will get everything done tomorrow night, as we are leaving Thursday to spend Thanksgiving at MGM and then off the PC on Friday. Our dinner reservation at Hollywood and Vine is not until 3:50, so I guess I will have Thursday AM to finish up packing, but I am sure the kids will be chomping at the bit to get our vacation started. Can't believe we will be sailing in less than 4 days. Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday!

Don't ya just hate that....I am not to where I wanted to be by now either, but oh well. I spent all day finishing up my shopping today too. DW and friend also bring their own gear. Got it cheap at Sam's Club 2 years ago. This time they aren't bringing the fins because they didn't help, took up too much space and they swim like otters anyway! Me? I swim like a big stone ;) so baby and I will find something else to do!
arrrrgghhh!!! :headache: I got some new linen pants and they shrank about 1" in the dryer! They are machine dryable and I had it on the lowest setting... :sad2: they still fit but a tad shorter than I'd prefer.
Have *just* barely started to pack...I usually stay up all night before a trip to finalize...not this time!
Hey, all this talk about manicures and pedicures, maybe I should get one! :rotfl: Tampa weather for Thursday shows Sunny 76°/62° 0% precip! yay! :smooth:

We woke up to snow this morning, maybe an inch or so. And we are going to supposedly get a heavy band tonight, tomorrow a.m. with three or four inches to add to that so I will be extremely happy to see temps in the seventies and sunshine.
Now we have a school delay so probably wont get to sneak off for a manicure and pedicure before the cruise. Did manage to get the leaves raked, Christmas trees up, lights up and all the presents purchased, wrapped and hidden :goodvibes We are celebrating so many birthdays in the next couple of weeks (including dds sweet 16) that I am all planned out.
I think a little reindeer tie would be adorable with this being so close to Christmas :goodvibes . My kids are all doing a combination of red/black/white for formal night because we hope to get Christmas cards done and I would love to see them in holiday colors vs. us usually doing the kids in pastels.
We are driving four hours tomorrow to fly out from Baltimore where my parents are and will arrive in Orlando EARLY Friday a.m..
Lots of last minute details to take care of.
Happy journey to all of those that are leaving early.

Its getting so close we can taste it. One day of work, Thanksgiving and then we are headed south to Florida. I just need to pick up some small items today, put my clothes into the garment bag and I'll be done. :cool1:
By 3:00 pm, I hope to be doing the vacation dance.
We are traveling on Friday and weather looks like clear skies. Based on the news reports, I wish good luck to anyone traveling today. Thanks to Delta for now actions before our trip. Though I did get a call from them asking us to change our flight times because they are overbooked. I declined and hope will not effect me on Friday.
I hope everyone has a great and safe thanksgiving. :daisy:

I have not heard or gotten anything else from Delta since they changed my return flight to 11:55 am on Saturday. I am really hoping we have no issues with customs and I can get to the airport early.
For those of you leaving early or have left to Fla.
Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! :goodvibes and we will see you on Saturday wearing our green mickeys.

We can now say we're leaving the day after tomorrow!! DH flies in from Seattle tonight at midnight (his mom is doing much better - praise God!)
Gotta tell ya that DH has been a hoot about all the things he is going to do on Thursday before we leave on Friday . . . First, he wanted to get his car inspected (we did it for him earlier in the week). Then he wanted to go to the bank and get our cash for the trip (I'm headed to do that today). Now, I'm hoping he adds to that list . . . raking all the piles of leaves! and getting the Christmas decorations down from the attic. . . LOL. Oh and eating some turkey, too.
Well off to clean the house and finish up those kitchen cabinets. It's been a big job to redo the kitchen cabinets, but it will be worth it. I love the new brighter look.
All this and a relaxing vacation, too.
Have a terrific last day of work!

Yeah the flipper space is an issue. So my husband gets it packed in his bag (tee hee) so I have more space for stuff.
A client of mine just called with a "last minute before you leave" project today so I guess I won't get any shopping done. DH is home and is helping out by doing laundry, watching DD and running last minute errands.

Hey guys Mary and jfishkind, We are trading magnets that represent our hometown/state.
If you take a look at post #358 - in my signature there is a link. It tells about the cruise meet on Saturday at the Goofy Pool at 3:00.
As for the clothes in the evening. I would still wear short sleeves and a have a jacket or a sweater to put on over it. It really only gets cold when you are on the deck when the wind is hitting you.
Hopefully that helps. I am getting ready to head to the beach, so I do not know how much more I will be able to look at the boards until Friday. By then most of you will be in Florida.

Welcome maryjanenancy and jfishkind! This too, might be one of my last posts, we are leaving early tomorrow and have loads of packing left to do. That happens with 4 kids... :goodvibes
Our airport has been having alot of problems due to an inversion and fog. All the flights have been canceled last night and this morning, and the inversion is supposed to last tomorrow too, so I am sad that we may not get to family's house for Thanksgiving as early as planned. I hope we can even get there for Thanksgiving.... :worried:

Have a safe journey, Michelle2! I know what you mean about airports. DH is flying in from Seattle tonight. He gets in at midnight. The boys keep asking to stay up. If they do, I'll never get everything finished (esp. the websites).
Still can't believe we're leaving the day after tomorrow. DH said it was just starting to hit him. I'm hoping it doesn't wack me up side the head tomorrow when I realized what I'd forgotten.
Went out and bought another formal dress. Still snugger than I'd like, but not as slinky as the backless one I tried on . . . However I FORGOT to buy the magnets! Ugghhh. Guess we'll be buying those at the airport . . .LOL. Everyone thing else will be way to crowded tomorrow anyway. Wonder if the Norfolk Botanical Gardens will be open when we get to the airport. I could run over there. Hey, how about VT (Virginia Tech) hokie magnets! Yeah!
Be safe everyone! Eat turkey, but remember we get to eat lots of great stuff for a week

One more question. Do I really need to bring our dinner clothes for Saturday night in our carry on luggage or can I assume that our luggage will be delivered to us by then? I really don't want to carry that stuff with us but also don't want to show up for dinner in our shorts! Thanks!

SEVEN HOURS until flight time...am I packed? No, of course not! :sad2:
But I will be! :teeth: Weather into TPS is still holding up, our airport is a breeze to get through. Plus our ride/dog watcher/housesitter (aka my coworker) is spending the night because she can't bring herself to get up at 5am! :rotfl: She'll stay up until 5am but getting up, well, that's impossible! Kids, I tell ya!!! (She is 25) It's funny, she can only have 3 beers a night now, she said her 19 year-old self would slap her for that as she used to down 2 6-packs in a night! Age is a killer! :rotfl2:
Got the magnets, got the wine (Mary & fish, some of us are bringing a bottle of locally made wine for a tasting on Sunday), got the door signs and the green paint chips for nametags! Now all I have to do is find the baby's formal dress shoes! :p
Well enough time wasting, I have a plane to catch!!! :hyper:

Almost packed. Keep trying to remember everything . . . (well, except the kitchen sink and that might just find it's way in anyway . . .LOL)

Happy "Turkey Day" to all!
Just finished packing the car and all of the last minute items... we added another small suitcase! Got our wine packed for the wine tasting (hopefully it won't break in route)... if anyone else is interesed in joing us, let me know at the meet on Saturday, and I'll give our our room number. (I can't remember our room number right now  and everything is packed in the car.) We leave at 5:00am and will be driving to Jacksonville (hopefully), and then to the port on Saturday. See you all there! I can't wait... It's been so much fun chatting with all of you, It will be great to finally meet!
Safe journey to all!

Sorry, but I tried to capture the Magic as she sailed by the Two Palms cam, but the Two Palms cam seemed to be stuck at 5:31pm for about ten minutes, just the time the Magic was sailing past.

It was really nice to meet everyone at the DIS meet. I hope everyone had as good of a cruise as we did! I know our weather sure was awesome!! :teeth:
And those are great pictures of the ship leaving from Port Canaveral. It was one of the happiest times I have had! We hope to get to do it again not too far in the future...
Thanks again everyone!

Thanks, my surgery went great. I have full range of motion. The muscles and tendons are still a little tight and I am limited on what I can lift. However, it feels much better then before I had the surgery.
Not a problem. I started my trip report. I hope to have it done by the end of this weekend.

I do not know if anyone is still out there...Just wanted to say again how good it was to meet everyone that I was able to (did not have alot of time at the DIS meet), and I think about the cruise all the time. I even started getting a little weepy when I listened to "Remember the Magic" by Brian McKnight. It was probably one of the most "magical" trips I have ever had, and just wanted to say hello again to all the November 26th, 2005 cruisers. I hope everyone has another cruise planned in the future!

Hey Michelle2, We miss everything about the cruise even talking to everyone on the dis. board. Since life is back into full swing and a very busy time of the year it makes it even harder to stay in touch. My dh has already started talking on the dis. board for the cruise we are going on in sept. I haven't wrote on it yet, I guess I got use to everyone on this board and I'm having a hard time switching. I would post the pictures I have of the cruise (well some of them there are way to many) but I have no clue..... So I will be getting them out to everyone that I have a address for on a disk. Most likely after the holidays. I hope everyone is having a great christmas. And I hope to talk to you all soon.

Warming Southern Greetings to Michelle2, BAHogg and all our other DIS friends. . .
We miss you, too. I told BAHogg I had a dream the other night that we were back on the ship. It was so hard to wake up . . .LOL. Yes, Michelle2, it has definately been BUSY! I had my last client meeting this morning. I'm so glad to really start my break. Well, sort of . .. LOL. Still got some school work to check for the boys and maybe do some science experiments. I think I'd prefer a nap :)
We still don't have any snow. In fact it's gone from way below freezing to nearly 60 degrees (in only one day!). Guess this means I need to wash the van . . .
Glad you are headed back in September. I still haven't convinced DH. We still think we got such a great deal for our Nov 26 cruise, it's challenging to find something close again. Prices have definiately risen, but it would be worth every penny!
So . . here's a Mickey wave for all our friends . . .Merry Christmas!
