I havent had a car for a while so DS and I have alway flown out of toronto but now it looks like I will have a car by are Dec trip.
Were do you look for ticket prices?
Do you buy them on line or through a TA?
Any websites and info would be helpful

Southwest Airlines (http://www.iflyswa.com) One of the most popular airlines used when flying out of buffalo. Some great sales throughout the year. Regular pricing not bad either

Jet Blue (http://www.jetblue.com/)

United, Continental, Northwest, Us Airways and Air Tran also fly out of Buffalo. Would check prices direct from each of those as well.
