Two of us are coming from Knoxville, Tennessee in December. Is one airline better than another Also when do you think they will put holiday sale fares out?
Thanks, lene

Lene,
Have you checked Nashville for comparative pricing. We live in Oneida. Although the ariport in Knoxville is more convenient, when we flew to WDW in May, we flew out of Nashville. It was about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive, but we saved over $150 per ticket thru Delta and got a non stop flight to boot.

Thanks for the suggestion; unfortunately I have a disability and can't ride in a car very far so we will have to fly out of Knoxville. Thanks Lene

Well, your choices are pretty limited in Knoxville.
I have flown my mother on both USAir and Delta. She perfers Delta since they fly jets into Knoxville. (All her USAir flights were on prop planes.)
As far as I know there are not any direct flights. you get to change someplace.
As to holiday fares. A lot depends on when you are traveling. If you are traveling on one of the big travel days, there may not be many fare sale seats (such as the Wed before Thanksgiving).
About the best I have ever seen out of Knoxville is in the $250 range and $300 seems to be the norm lately.

Right now, one really isn't any better than another. I try to avoid United as they fly many small prop planes out of Knoxville. Northwest seems to have the best rates right now. Independence Air (a new low cost carrier) is adding Knoxville to its routes in July. According to the airline, they are also supposed to add Orlando sometime this fall. They said announcements would be made about 60 – 90 days before the start of service. So, I’d say you would be able to book with them sometime in August or September. (I asked them about this in an email recently. http://www.flyi.com)
If I were booking today, I'd go with Northwest (all jet and least expensive as of today) or with Delta.
I wouldn't waste 3 hours driving to Nashville as well as paying for gas and parking to save a little on the plane ticket. I'd rather pay a little more and fly out of a much more convenient airport.
Good Luck on your decision.

Thanks for the information. We fly Northwest a lot too, but haven't flown to Orlando before. We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge too in December.
Thanks, Lene
