Hi all,

DH and I just booked airtran for the first time, mostly because our family of 4 was saving over $100 on the r/t air. I have a few questions for folks who have taken it to MCO from PHL.

1. Is it true there is no curbside bag check in PHL? What about in MCO?

2. If you need to check your bag at the ticket counter, how have the lines been?

3. How are the TSA lines in that terminal (Terminal D in PHL)? In the USAIr terminals in PHL they have been awful I hear

4. How is baggage claim for Airtran in Philly? Could anything be as bad as USAir in PHL?

Thanks!

Since we only use carry-on luggage I'm sorry that I cannot answer any of your questions.
I can say that we flew AirTran last June for the first time. We got on their web site the day before our flight and picked out our seats and printed our boarding passes. When we got to the airport the only stop we made was at security. After that it was to the gate and on to the plane. Very fast and easy.
Coming back at MCO we had to get on line to get our boarding passes (did not have access to computer). The line was really long but moved pretty quickly. We had someone at home pick out our seats so we only needed the boarding passes.
We were delayed leaving MCO, but overall we were very satisfied with AirTran. Their planes are modern and the staff is very friendly.

I'm glad to hear all of these postive commens. We are flying Air Trans out of Philly for the first time in July. Got a great deal. We alternate and one year use our AE rewards for US Air tickets, this is our off year.

:p :p :p
I thought this was quite funny, as I returned from MCO last Wednesday on US Air, and our bags were quite late. They showed up about an hour after we landed!!! My step-mom was driving around the airport in circles!

I have never had a problem with Airtran - they are great!

We just got back, late Friday night, from MCO to PHL and waited a little over an hour for our luggage. It was better than our last trip, in December, when we waited almost two hours! I didn't realize each airline has their own baggage handlers, I thought they worked for the airport. We had no problems when we arrived at MCO.
