YIPPEE!
I was finally able to score a concierge room on the coveted 14th floor at the Contemporary for January!

DH and I have been wanting to try this CL for years, but it's always BOOKED SOLID!
Even when we got on the 11th floor, we could not upgrade to the 12th, much less the 14th...always booked!

This will be a nice treat as it will be during the WDW Marathon and we'll be in the middle of all the action!
DH likes getting on the elevator and going down to the health club to work out and use the sauna!

So excited! Just had to share!

OK....all you 14th lovers! Tell me we're gonna love it!

Yes, extremely hard to get! There are only 3 regular rooms, the rest are suites.

Ok, I just have to ask. I hope you don't mind. How much is a decent rate for 14th floor. I know it's concierge but was wondering how much the plain room is ~vs~ suites. Any pricing
info would be great.

OH~ how rude of me. CONGRTULATIONS!!! We love January when we go home too.

Thanks, Wendi

You are going to LOVE IT!
IMO it's the ONLY WDW concierge worth the money.

Have a fun and a magical trip!

ROTFL, Kimberle!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

johnsonet...from what I've heard, the 14th floor at the CR is the "be-all-end-all" of concierges at WDW.

Now...being a concierge addict that I am....I'm very intrigued by all of this, and the fact that it's always booked!

And what Kimberle said is accurate....3 regular concierge rooms, which are around 480 sq ft each and run around $495 per night.
Suites can go up to $1750 per night. (before taxes)

Hey! Eisner and crew stays there...it's gotta be the BEST! :scratchin

KELLI...I actually like the bold and bright colors in our Tower room! But, after looking at some of the 14th floor pics...more neutral tones, I believe we'll enjoy our stay there!

Wendi...go to Our Laughing Place (http://ourlaughingplace.com) for more price info.:wave2:

I wonder why it is the "be-all-end-all"?? Also Eisner generally stays at the Yacht Club or the Grand Floridian.

Ohh Bambi I am soooo jealous! I had the opportunity to book the 14th floor for our July trip, but I had to decline..I was told that the 14th floor rooms do not have a day bed...and with 3 single adults and a kiddo...we need the extra bed :(

I hope you have a blast!!!!!!!!!!

**********, I had that room booked last year but had to cancel that vacation (conflict with son's school schedule). I was really looking forward to staying there as I had read many nice things about that floor from some fellow Dis'ers. I hope you take lots of photos of your room to share with us.

I thought Michael Eisner always stays in a special suite at the BC!?! Now I'm reading about the CR, YC and GF. I love the rumor mill...
does anyone know for an absolute FACT where it is that he stays? Just curious...

We were upgraded to the Newport Suite at the BC in May of 2003. We had seen it featured by Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel previously. We were told at the time that this is where Eisner, Cruise, and a host of other "stars" usually stayed at Disney. However, they probably stay at other resorts as well.

WOW WDW LifeLong Fan ! You've stayed at so many WDW resorts:earseek: :earseek: That is awesome. Would you mind sharing your all-time favorite? Or is there not just one?? I ask b/c I have AKL booked for next month (short stay - with 2 little girls (7 & 5)- and I'm wondering whether we should try something new. We have stayed at and love GF, AKL and WL. Wondering about Poly, BC and YC in particular. From someone who has stayed at (I think) every deluxe, I'd LOVE to know your opinion. Thanks! -Liz

Well I haven't stayed at all Deluxes but of the BW, YC and Poly the Poly wins especially with 2 little girls! I thought the others were really nice but then I fell in LOVE with the Poly's true away from it all feel. It is just so magical at night with the Tiki torches and music and the castle changing colors. I would think the girls would love the view of the castle and the pool. I know SAB is great too but I think you might find the smaller pool more relaxing for you with 2 little ones. I haven't been to SAB with kids but have read that it can be hard to keep track of little ones there. The CL at Poly is great too.

When we were there this last March, several CMs told us thay he stays there frequently.....

Just one story for example....DH and I are having lattes at Contemporary Grounds one afternoon and a female "suit" comes up and orders several lattes and cappucinos.....when the girl was making these drinks, the suit says..."you know, one of those is Mr. Eisner's".
CM smiled and kept on making the drinks.

After the Eisner's "suit' leaves...she tells us...
"she's been telling me that all week! I hate it when she does that! How would you feel if your job could be lost with a "bad" latte for Mr.Eisner?...blablaba..."

Sweet girl..just stressed!:hyper:

Anyways...she told us that Eisner stays there (14th floor) alot and sometimes they will take the whole 14th floor whenever they are there.:smooth:

We've talked to many other nice CMs that shared the same info...
Eisner stays on the 14th floor of CR.

Now...maybe he DOES also stay at GF and YC, too.
who knows?:wave2:

I am so envious! I stayed on the 14th floor in a 1 bedroom suite back in the 80's with my parents and older sister (we had an unexpected upgrade from a regular tower room).

It was one of my best hotel stays ever! We had a view of Bay Lake which was great (initially I was disappointed that it wasn't the castle, but got over it quickly). We loved the fluffy Mickey Mouse robes, the large room and the breakfast and afternoon & evening refreshments, as well as the convenience.

Enjoy it!

Heh--m I'm sure there is a friendly competition between Disney's resorts, so I wouldn't be surprised if the managers and employees spread the rumor that their resort is where Eisner ALWAYS stays...

My guess is he probably mixes it up a bit from visit to visit-- all the major suites are pretty nice, so he wouldn't be slummin' it...

Congrats on the room, **********, sounds fabulous.

Looking forward to reading your review when you get back.. My DH blames you for our splurge for Poly GVC in August...in a good way, that is.

I'm DELIGHTED by this news!!~And KNOW you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the 14th floor! We stayed here for five eves last summer, in Celebration of DD's 16th BD! The staff is remarkable, and the accomodations are FAB! We had a 1BR suite overlooking the MK...which was fairytale enough for moi, without all the added attention and perks. DD wanted to stay the entire SUMMER...but we had another surprise awaiting her (The Wonder Cruise!). She had NO IDEA about either of these surprises...I did a great job of keeping mum. One of the most special things about this resort (maybe corny to lots of others), is being able to "stroll" back HOME late in the eve from a fun-filled day @ the MK. :cloud9: We would hold hands, and take our time...chatting and laughing under the dark summer sky. The warm air softly carressing and embracing us like a magical blanket, as moments of LIFE passed by. We always took time to pause, and stand atop our own little BRICK, placed back in 1995. It's a testament to our family, and our bond...connected by the love of this WORLD created by Walt.

Another reason we LOVE the CR, is the little arcade (open 24-7). We all love playing there together, like children. We hoard our tickets, and exchange the points for silly surprises at the counter. It's all so hoakey...but again, we love it. We also cherish sitting on the Balcony late in the eve...together, after the park has closed. We listen to all the sounds as we peruse the vista from atop this landmark. There's a purity to these rituals, these passages which keep us in touch with where we've been, and where we are going. ;)

We have stayed at EVERY resort on property, with the exception of the values and the AKL (Which...I PROMISE you, We WILL RESERVE SOON!).
Of all these...the CR remains atop the list...for the above-mentioned reasons and many, many more.

May you have the BEST TIME EVER, and come back with memories sure to make you reserve this resort again, and again. I can hardly wait for your TRIP REPORT, as I KNOW it will be filled with MAGIC!!

TTFN...KUDOS to you for nabbing this astounding place!!

Jen D~I have it on "inside" information& excellent authority...directly from Eisner's office in Burbank, that his #1 FAVORITE RESORT in all of WDW is: THE YACHT CLUB! I guess with it's small size (around 700 rooms), location, and upscale refined decor, he prefers it to all others. He has stayed at the YC resort the majority of his visits to WDW. You would rarely, if ever, see him-as he stays in the best suite, and uses the private (secret) back entrance/exit.

The regular room I stayed in was an MK view. It was in the half closest to MK about halfway down.

It was handicap accessible (no tub, only shower)

wow - I had no idea the 14th floor was so hard to get. We booked 2 rooms for December. No trouble. Booked one about 3 months ago and the other last month. Never knew there were only 3 rooms out of the whole floor.

We were able to stay on the 14th floor in 2002 for my folk's 50th wedding anniversary. We were spoiled rotten... and loved every minute of it. We had a 1 bedroom suite facing the Ft. Wilderness side of the lagoon.

if there are only 3 concierge rooms available on the 14th floor, and someone above posted that one of them had a MK view (with a handicapped bathroom) close to the MK side - where are the other 2 rooms located, and what proximity is their view to the MK?

is it possible the MK view is actually better on a lower floor if you are closest to the MK side, as compared to a 14th floor room on the side furthest from the MK? (i would think you'd look down upon the roof of the convention center from the furthest side)

It sounds like these rooms are suite connectors; i.e., these rooms connect to a suite that would be a 2 bedroom suite if this room is sold with it. If this is the case that would explain why they are hard to book; anyone who booked a 2 br suite would be using these rooms and they would not be available to sell.
