After a four day business trip in Winchester, my husband and I are going to be tourists in London for a long weekend in July. We would love some ideas for hotels. The key word being "tourist", so something near all of the sites. Next time we visit, we will be more adventuresome. Thanks for your input.

You can get some hotel information at Smoothhound (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk). It's actually a fun site to look at even if you're NOT going to the UK any time soon!

They're a small family-owned business (not owned by us i hasten to add! Our son recommended them to us!)

One of my colleagues stayed at this (new) hotel and thought it was good value for money, I think he paid about £70-80 a night for a double room, which matched up to their "internet specials" quoted on the website. ( http://www.southwarkrosehotel.co.uk/index.asp ) which is on the southbank of the Thames near to London Bridge station. It's a short an deasy walk to the Tower of London, St Paul's cathederal and the city of London (business area). London has quick and efficient subway system that means you can get around quickly to most parts of central London from pretty much anywhere.
