Hi Mik&Minnie,
You were so good about explaining about the cameras and film, I thought I would ask you another silly question about airport security.
We are bringing walkie-talkies with us, and I was going to put them in the checked bags. Would it be better to have them in the carry-on instead? I just wondered when they show up in the checked bags if that will trigger more of a search. I have everything packed in clear bags so it would be easy for the screeners to check our bags if necessary without the clothes spilling out, and I never lock the bags anyway. But I just want things to be as easy as possible for everyone.

Thanks for the advice.
Kathy

I am not the person to whom you've addressed the question, but I've taken my walkies on about 10 trips since 9/11 so maybe I can help.

I've had them in both checked and hand baggage and they've never caused a bit of concern. I would not worry about them even the littlest bit, just put them where you have the most space and where you feel the most comfortable.

****DO NOT**** leave a camcorder in your checked baggage unless you never want to see it again!!

Both the camera and the tape will be fine in carryon baggage; the scanner is an x-ray, not a magnet.

Walkie talkies wouldn't cause a problem either in luggage or carry on.

Walkie Talkies would qualify as electronics. On most airlines if electronics are lost or stolen while in your checked bags the airline will not reimburse you. I would put them in my carry on.
