New ride coming to MGM confirmed by CM yesterday. It is going to be called the tunnel of doom and it will be a tribute to an old ride called the tunnel of love. Of course this will be Disney style and cost a lot of money. It is going to use a technology called Cave and remote transverse motion. Cars will feel like they are actually flying and people and places will seem to appear out of no where. I heard this is going to cost a lot of money, but once it is complete - there will be no one who can touch it for a while. It will be over-the-top in so many different ways. It is anticipated to arrive late 2007 and I heard they are going to have a show on T.V. devoted to the opening of this ride.

Hope it all works out - sounds great.

Nothing against you -- really.
Would be nice if it were true.
Just call me very skeptical.

Is there a special board to post those?

Wonder if its called tunnel of dome because it has the potential of being cancelled by Eisner.

Boarding area spiel:

"Please Keep Your Hopes and Dreams Inside the Car"

::yes::

Maybe this will be the much rumored makeover of TGMR

Mabey we shouldn't belive anything we hear? Besides no previous rumors on other sites, no story, and many other reasons, this isn't even a rumor, it's just whishfull thinking.

Hey thats how Mission Space started out so lets not crush every rumor out there. Wishful thinking is better material than most facts we are getting these days.

Disney has been experimenting with CAVE. for a couple of years. It was once thought they would do something the GMR show building with it.
Here is what CAVE is all about.

Tunnel of Doom? And what, if anything, does that have to do with show business? Even if this rumor were legit, it doesn't sound like something that would even fit in MGM.

No park CM would have access to this sort of information, especially when it comes to marketing plans.

Sounds like that scene in Willy Wonka where they take the boat ride through the tunnel and see chickens getting their heads cut off and centipedes crawling through skulls! ;)

Could we at least find out who the CM is? Not the name, just was it a bus driver, operator at ToT, or Rasulo? (Ok if its Rasulo, fork over the name...)

But I'll play along for now...

When I heard the name, my first thought was a Villains attraction. Any chance that is what this is about?

Guys, I think this is pretty much the definition of a rumor. Rumors aren't "proven, verified, and completely true factual pieces of information" but, maybe, just maybe rumors! They are things you hear that may or may not end up being true, but which are supposed to be fun to think about & discuss. What kind of "rumor" board is this if we jump on someone for posting what they hear? Geez.

Actually, stemikger has a history of posting flights of fancy that have come from his own imagination. I don't know that this is one of them, but it is reasonable to ask if it is.

OK, I'm thinking this is supposed to be an Indiana Jones type ride. We saw that Disney was working on something like that on a show that DH tivoed. I thought it was supposed to be in DL though.

I'll check later to see if he deleted the program.

Since Expedition Everest and Stitch are both still in the construction stage, I would be very surprised to hear of another big project at the parks so soon. More importantly, since Islands of Adventure has Dr. Doom, I doubly doubt that Disney would name a new attraction anything similar.

You know how the masses already mangle the names of the existing attractions.

It is possible. If it were to happen I'd imagine it to be a low cost attraction, a time filler if you like. Doesn't sound too complex - a spooky tunnel of love.
