Why would a person's weight change more than 5-6 lbs during the course of a day? My scale is quite accurate but lately I have been a certain weight in the morning and it is literally 5 lbs heavier at night; sometimes as much as 8 lbs. I do not eat that much and I get moderate excercise each day.

Should I be worried? Or is this normal?

It's quite normal for a person's weight to increase as the day goes on. It's usually as a result of water retention. I wouldn't worry about it. It happens to me all the time. That's why I try to only weigh myself once a week. The ups and downs used to drive me crazy

Have you been drinking more water? That can make a difference. Also with warmer weather you are more likely to retain water, especially as your body adjusts to the changing temps. We had a week here where it went for spring like 70's to summer like upper 80's. It was humid and I retained water like crazy. When the temp. went down so did the water weight. (thank goodness) Just relax and don't let it bother you!:D

::yes:: Water retention is a killer on the scale. I also can go up 5 to 6 lbs during the day. Now I really only weight myself in the am because it was getting me down at night and really wasn't worth the worry. Good luck.

I vary as much as 5 lbs. too. It infuriates me so I try to weigh myself only in the morning.

It sounds like we've all had the same problem! I've varried as much as 5-7 pounds. I finally threw away my scale and weigh myself 3 times a week at our local grocery store that has a very accurate scale.

I have to tell you, it was liberating to throw the scale away. I'm still losing weight - and that matters. But at home my concentration is about staying healthy and feeling good. I found when I weighed myself too much - I was setting myself up for disappointment. Take care and have a great weekend!

Thank you all so much. I bet that is what it is. I have been drinking more water, esp. since it's been hot.

I think I will go back to only weighing myself in the AM.

Thank you all!

How funny. I'm not worried about it, but I was just having the exact same thought. Why after you eat or drink you weight goes up so much. Mine only goes up about 3 pounds, but boy, it can almost damage you if you let it.

EsmeraldaX- I weigh throghout the day only to look at the changes the one that counts are the mornings and especially Sunday morning because that is when I made it my weigh in day.

I had to stop weighing myself more than one time a week. The fluctuations due to fluid, etc was making me crazy.

In fact, I weigh myself once a month now. It's too stressful for me, otherwise.
