View Full Version : Mini meets?

Just wondering if anyone else has set times for their mini meet besides Barry.
I want to attend a few so trying not to conflict with the Pin meet

I don't think Linda has set up any of the mini meets yet. I was under the impression that they were to be arrainged by her...

 Hi Lisa and Kim.
 I am under the impression that noone was going to set up the mini meets except for the person who wishes to host one.
I think we just say when, where, and what kind of mini meet it is, then Linda will post it somewhere for everyone to see (maybe here on the board, and/or maybe in the newsletter, and/or maybe at the Reception Desk on the first night of DIS-Con), and then whomever wants attend can do so, by just showing up or 'signing up' in advance.
But I'm pretty sure, the mini meet hosts are solely responsible for their own mini meets. Please let me know if this is not correct. ((I've been known to be wrong once before. ;) ))
:bounce: I have to say, this craziness is fun!!!!!!!!! :bounce:

luvdsny - you wrong - I don't believe it!!
I was under the same impression - the hosts set the time & place and advise Linda.
OK Linda are you there?!?!?

Well you are both kind of right -LOL...
We will have all the mini-meets set up on an itinerary that will balance them throughout the event, at the same time I (or Marsha, who is really in charge of these) will insure that it is a good time for the host. We just want to make sure that the meets are not all on one day and spread throughout the event. Some meets will be scheduled. For example we'll have pin trading meets before or after some of the 'big events' the Pleasure Island meets afte the Tower of Terror event as we'll have a bus gong to DTD, and I'm trying to plan that the Xmas decorations tour ends at the Grand for the 'Tea Party' mini meet. Don't know if I'm able to do this yet, we'll see... at any rate I think that sounds like a great combo that I will be sure to attend :)
I don't think we will release the mini meet itinerary till the end of August or early Sept., meets can/will be added up until the day the convention starts. There will be a schedule enclosed in your registration packet, we may also have a sign up for a few that requires reservations of sorts but most will be very informal :P

Linda...that sounds great.

Thanks everyone! :bounce: Does anyone else actually enjoy all of this 'uncertainty' and 'caos' the way that I do???? :p I am LOVING it, really I am! I know, I'm weird! ;) ;) ;)
I'm sure once this gets really close, I'll want to have a little more 'certainty' and a little less 'caos', but for now, the planning has been fun!!! :bounce: ;)

Does anyone have any advice for me on WHEN to have a Fantasyland Meet???
I welcome any advice you may have. :D

Thanks Linda for the reply to this question.. Yes, I am in charge of coordinating with all you guys who have agreed to host mini meets here.. We want to make sure we spread out the events and do not conflict with other things.. Linda and I will then work out the specifics... I know it is getting close, EEK, as I just made my plane reservations and car rental reservation..
Please stay tune to my chat shedule, not this Wednesday, but next, I am planning to have our ever popular Convention specialist, Linda, come and do another Convention chat..

A fantasyland meet would be great on Thursday. If it could be before the park closes, it could be the start of the MVMCP. Start in Fantasyland, go to dinner, then head back out into the park for the MVMCP.
Just my 2 cents..

You might want to avoid 11/29 for the mini meets since I will be doing the thrill ride tour then all day. I would like to attend the other meets too. I got to ride some emus! :)

Since I am going to be one of the Hosts for the "behind the Scenes" tour, will you be checking with us on which days they will be held beforehand, so we can plan our iteneraries accordingly.
I am really getting excited about it, and would love to know what Day it will be on, so I don't plan on something else.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Since I am hosting the tea party, I wondered if I was supposed to set that up. But, if I read this correctly, it will be prearranged for me. I was also hoping that the mini-meets would be scheduled in such a way that I can attend all the other meets, too! I would never want to miss the emu riding!!

Thanks....I was kind of thinking about Thursday too. I was kind of thinking that the people who would be participating in Barry's Thrill Ride meet would probably (for the most part!) NOT be as excited about a Fantasyland Meet...and vice versa. Mostly vice versa!!!
I don't think it will be possible to have as many mini meets as we're talking about here without overlapping some of them.
I better lay out my itinerary so I can play with it.....start getting this all straightened out! ;)

I was thinking of registration day for a pin meet since we will all be passing through the BW area.
Either registering or heading to Atlantic. The Pin cart on the BW is always a fave and I can talk to Leighton during the AUgust pin event.

The mini meets will be spread throughout the event. Some will overlap, some like pin trading will occur daily. These are meant to be small events not all '300'of us attending - can you imagine the scene as 300 DIS'ers approach Dumbo :earseek:

I like the sound of an afternoon tea after touring the resorts to see the Christmas decorations. That would be the perfect end to the tour.
Each time I read the different goings on, I get more and more excited. I am not sure how we are all going to be able to hang in there for 4 more months.
07-12-2001, 03:08 PM
I want to go to all the mini-meets.
O.K., I want to try to go to all of the mini-meets.
O.K., I want to try to go to as many mini-meets as possible.
I'm really getting excited about meeting everyone.
07-14-2001, 12:58 AM
Oh thank goodness!! Makes it a little easier for all us Host challenged folk.
Ray I am with you I want to go to them all - meet everyone - and generally be DIS immersed for the whole convention.
Family - OH them - I 'll meet them at the airport!!
07-14-2001, 04:16 AM
Does anybody know how the Tower of Terror mini-meet work? Do we just get in line with everybody else, over and over again? Ray:D
07-14-2001, 11:39 AM
From my experience with ERT, you just get in line over and over again. I hope we can bypass the pre-show. I don't want to watch it over and over again! :)
07-15-2001, 12:22 PM
Reading all of your posts just excite me!! I can't hardley wait to meet you guys, you're just so darn funny and adorable!
Just wondering if anyone out there can help me out? I'm looking for a calender type thing that I can print out where I can write in my goings on for the days. I have a reg cal. maker, but since I'll be there from 11-24 to 12-3 I'd have to make one for each month. I'd like one that I could just make for the days that I'm going for. I'd like it to have enough space for each day so I can write lots of info.
I'm open to any tips or help on getting something like this. I guess you'd call this my DIS planner. :)
07-16-2001, 01:12 PM
The TOT will only be open for us, not the general public as this occurs after the park closes for the day. As far as skipping the pre-show? good question, I'll see what I can find out, we could get dizzy from having to run around the building over and over and over again, there must be a way to bypass the line but maybe not the preshow as the elevator they use for the child-swap would not work for 300 persons.
07-16-2001, 06:08 PM
I can just see 300 DIS'ers 'rushing DUMBO'..... LOL :p
07-16-2001, 07:08 PM
I've always wanted to ride Dumbo, but I never have. Same with the carousel.
07-16-2001, 09:00 PM
 What? Ray Shaprton has NEVER ridden Dumbo or the Carousel??? Can this be true?
Okay, Ray. I'll add you to my list of Fantasyland Mini Meet Attendees......there's nothing more fun than riding Dumbo with a bunch of young children!!! ;)
07-16-2001, 09:33 PM
I've never ridden the carousel either. DH gets sick on "spinning" rides.
07-23-2001, 06:18 PM
Kim - I am with your DH. You can throw me upside down - thru curves but just spin me in circles ...... weel you don't want to be near me.
Although seeing all those DISers rush Dumbo should be a riot!
07-23-2001, 10:21 PM
I've never been on Dumbo either since the line is always so long!
As for TOT, how about having one side a preshow side and the other a skip the preshow side? Those that want to see the show can do so and those that don't can walk through the room to the other side.
The TOT marathon does sound really awesome! I can see me getting really silly from all of this! Can you picture a bunch of "adults" running around the TOT just to get back on!! :p :p
I'm with you guys, I can ride ALMOST anything, but put me on a merry-go-round, and I get icky. SInce you're doing Dumbo, why not Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride? That's a lot of fun, too! Yeah, like we need more to do! ;)
