We finally got into the SSR on Wednesday. When we checked into OKW on Wednesday, we asked the CM at the front desk if we could go there to take a look around. She said we would not be able to take our car there, and the only way to get in would be to go to DTD or one of the theme parks and take a bus from there. No buses from any of the resorts yet. So, being good little DVCer's, we left the OKW front gate made a right hand turn and went down the road a piece to the SSR front gate, and showed our parking pass from OKW to the guard, and asked him if we could check it out. He said "Welcome Home"! and waved us in. I guess the biggest dissapointment to us is that they totally eliminated the Seasons dining room {from the Disney Institute} and what used to be the Pompano Grill, originally, and put in this silly little fast food, VERY limited menu restaurant. It was NOT what we excpected from the the hoopla that has been going out about the place. If you ask me, they really need to put a sit down full service restaurant at SSR. Has there been any mention of that for the future?
Maybe we are just getting spoiled, but, we were not really that impressed with the place overall. It has a very tight, closed-in feeling to it. Maybe it's just because of all the construction going on... time will tell..........More when we return next week.

DVC has an agreement with DTD not to have a full service restaurant. I can understand the DTD vendors not wanting to lose cusomers to a new place across the pond, but wasn't Seasons in direct competition with DTD prior to SSR ?
I started a thread over on the DVC board where basically I said I wasn't inpressed by theresort....at least not the old DI area which is now th common area for the resort.

Now, it makes sense. I'm fairly good about figuring out the acronyms, but I thought the above posts were talking about a new restaurant. I was lost, so thanks for the help.

Personally Seasons was one of the best kept secrets at WDW (along with Bonfamilles). We enjoyed some very good meals at Seasons. We, too, noticed the food court area replaced the full service restaurant.

Wow!!
I am very surprized. We bought points in April, and will be using them this New Years. I wished I asked - I just assumed that they would have a full service rest. as we told them our Favorite place to go is to the YC - and they said that this resort would be comporable - I not a happy camper...............

I think the theroy behind no full service restaurant at SSR is that guests have access to full service restaurants at DTD.

True, but after seeing the size of the resort, we felt that a full sized restaurant was in order. It somehow just doesn't feel right. What if you don't want to leave the resort for dinner? They have a great pool, though!
