Does any one know what the cut off date is for being pregnant and flying? I thought it was 6 months?

check your airline's policy or ask your doctor. usually it is somewhere late in the third tri.

also, i know my insurance will not cover a birth out of my coverage area after 37wks.

6 months is early, i'm going next week at 24wks!

I just checked with the airline and it is 36 weeks, provided that you don't have any complications with the pregnancy.

Check with your doctor. If all is going well w/ your pregnancy they usually say it's ok as long as you move your legs around to prevent blood clots. airlines usually say up to 36 wks, some ask for a doctor's note. I flew at 8 months and it was ok. Not very comfortable, but it was ok:p

One thing I did both times I flew in my 7th months was request a copy of my ob file to bring with me. That way in case the airline questioned how far along I was I had documentation. Also, if something had happened I would have had my information with me. My doctors in Austin and Phoenix were glad to do it, your ob chart is usually 4 pages or so with all your progress notes on it.

Adding: I made sure I flew in my most comfortable, loosest outfit, used a bag to raise my feet so my feet didn't swell and drank twice my normal water - I had to force it down but I was glad I wasn't dehydrated the next morning!

I flew British Air at 37 weeks when I was moving my family from Sweden back to the US and it was no problem. There was no choice and despite an uncomfortable 11 hr trip(Sweden to Heathrow to Boston), I made out fine. Drink water and get up and walk around. Good luck! Susan
