You know you FI best...what kind of guy is he? Sporty? Artsy? I would get him something personal...I am having a hard time thinking of something for FI too!

You are already giving him yourself and that is the greatest gift of all. I have never heard of b and g giving each other gifts until I came to this site but I agree with Meghan, it should be something personal. Maybe a momento of your first date or a joke referring to something stupid that the two of you laughed at.

--THink of the things that make him the man he is and let him know about them.

that sounds like a good idea, southernclass. i will look into it. i never knew about brides and grooms giving each other gifts until i started watching "a wedding story" on TLC.

heh heh heh. :teeth: Oh, where I could begin.

DW and I never exchanged gifts however when my best man and his wife got married, they exchanged a pair of Tag Heuer Kirium watches -- simply beautiful pieces of jewelery.

Of course, just wearing a big red ribbon and a bow would probably work too. :hyper:

My dh gave me sapphire and diamond earrings. I gave him a writing desk for his(our) home office. He is not a jewelry kind of guy do I did not want to give him anything like that. Of course that was 15 years ago!!LOL!!

We were married 19 years ago and I gave my husband a gold watch I got on sale. He still wears it on Sunday and for special occasions.
We wanted something permanent. His birthday was 3 days after the wedding so I splurged.

i appreciate all of your help everybody and coming up with a gift for my groom-to-be. my groom-to-be wants to be a cop really bad. he's very much into cop shows like "nypd blue," "the shield," "third watch," etc. i would like to get something meaningful, thoughtful and permanent. i don't want to get him something that is a simple and easy gift, like one of these shows on dvd or something like that. i just don't know where to look for a meaningful gift.

Try looking on Ebay for maybe something like an autographed picture of one of his favorite actors or a piece of the set or something.

I gave my husband 2 tickets to a Cubs game. It is common for a bride and groom to exchange gifts but if it is not a normal custom for where you live don't worry about it.

I got my hubby some extra characters at our Custom Wedding.

I also searched high and low for a card to give him - it was so hard to find one that the bride can give to the groom or vice versa - deffo a hole in the market over here in the UK for that. Paul was really touched by the card and I think that meant more to him than Chip'n'Dale.

Just goes to show how a thought really counts.
