Looking at a Kingsland pit-stop on our way down to WDW this summer. Looked at a Comfort Inn that seems nice, for its amenities and such -- anybody ever stayed there? Typically we always go Hampton Inn, but the Comfort Inn is a good 30 bucks cheaper, and good gracious, we'll arrive in the evening and leave in the morning -- not much time for it to matter! Also saw a Country Inn / suites by Carlson -- good? Where do you stay if / when you pit-stop in Georgia? Is there any benefit to stopping in Brunswick over Kingsland? Just looking for 4 main things -- clean safe place to sleep, near some food for the evening and maybe a b'fast in the a.m., with a pool for the kids to swim, and preferably not far off the I-95 path!

Any suggestions?

We stayed ay the Kingsland Holiday Inn last trip. I thought it was a nice hotel. Seemed to be reasonably new or remodeled. There are about 5 other hotels right in this area. They are about 1 min off 95. They all seemed nice. The Holiday Inn served cookies at night from 6 to 8, and had a good breakfast bar in the morning.
It has a small pool which was good for the kids to blow off some steam in.

There are about 6 places to eat at within walking distance. There were 2 gas stations on the corner one of which had a car wash. There is a Super Walmart about a 5 min drive down the road.

I noticed a police car patroling the area. I saw him several times driving around the hotels and stores.

After you get back on 95 you will be in Florida in about 5 min. I would plan on stopping there again.

THanks for the input -- especially about the Super WalMart! That may just be the perfect pit stop to also grab our dry goods, snacks, etc. prior to WDW!

How far would you estimate Kingsland from WDW? I'm gauging roughly 3 -- 'bout right?

Kingsland is about 3 and a half hours to Disney under normal traffic conditions. If you decide to stop in Brunswick instead (about half hour before Kingsland) I would recommend the Fairfield Inn there. There are many fast food and casual restaurants within a mile or two of the exit and there is also a Super Walmart there at about the fifth light (hotels will give you directions to all of these). If you're looking for budget accommodations I saw a new Microtel last time I stopped in Brunswick that looked nice from the outside, although I can't vouch for the actual rooms.

The two times I have driven it only took me about 2.5 hours from the Florida border to Disney. Kingsland is about 5 min from Florida. But then it took me 4 hours to get from Disney to the Florida border coming back once. 4 was closed due to an accident, so you never know.

We have stayed at the Country Inn & Suites in Kingsland several times, it's a great place to stay. Also gas up here, it's the cheapest you will see, till you leave FL!
