A friend of mine has lost 25 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks on South Beach. Granted it's a man (darn it) but I have 5 1/2 weeks to my cruise and WW just isn't going to cut it. How much weight can a woman lose in 4 or 5 weeks on this diet? I plan on doing WW again after the cruise, or south beach if it goes well, but during the cruise I won't deprive myself--I won't go nuts, but I won't deprive myself.

Hi Robin!

I've been on South Beach since December. I love it! I lost 22 pounds in my first month. But, from my understanding, it depends on how bad your eating habits were and how much weight you had to lose when you start which will determine how much you lose initially. I also work out 6-7 times per week. If you decide to do South Beach and you have time constraints, you might want to stay on Phase 1 a few weeks longer to help increase your chances of losing as much as you can.

We would love to have you on the Beach with us, even if it's for a short time. :sunny:

Thanks ZP. DH says "go ahead and start another diet you won't finish  ". I have to have willpower to be good at those graduation parties!

SBD is great. I have been on since the last friday in January and have lost 28 pounds. Do I wish it was more, yeah, who doesn't. However this way of eating has been great for me and I know that even though it's slow going, it won't come back.

Hi Robin,

I believe you can be very successful on this program with little if any feelings of deprivation. I have been to so many gatherings since DH and I have been on the Beach and hardly ever felt tempted to eat off plan. Primarily it's because the food on this program is so delicious and there is so much variety. I went to a graduation party just this past Sunday and wasn't even tempted by the cake and such. I knew I had a wonderful dinner complete with dessert waiting at home for me.

I have even been known to bring my own dessert to a gathering or two. The low carb cheesecake from Ruby Tuesday's has proved to be a lifesaver for me on several occasions.

I keep a journal on the WISH journal board if you want to get some ideas of the yummy foods that you can have on this program. It's very doable and both you and your DH might just be pleasantly surprised when your cravings for all that bad carby stuff disappears! :)
