Hi. This trip my budget was a little more flexible. for hotel costs I booked a value then kept upgrading as we saved more money.

2 adults 2 children for 5 nights

food average is $150 day (we are staying concierge)
pre trip purchases (like new shorts, sandals, sun screen, car trip items, bug spray, etc) $400
Fun & souveniers - $600 (for boat rental, tour, etc)

Keep in mind that this trip has become a very special event. We've saved for two years so we our budget is a bit larger than it would be on a regular trip.

Half the fun is in the planning. I'm sure your budget is fine. One of the things we did to save extra, was to absolutely NOT go into a store or even buy gasoline for an entire week every month. It took a little pre planning so you didn't run out of milk, but we saved a bundle! My DH tells me the more I save in our vacation account, the more I can spend on WDW. So I threw caution to the wind this trip.:teeth:

thanks for a great idea! Especially w/gas prices going up, my goal is to make less trips out w/the car. We'll have to work on your plan this summer!

Haley B's budget looks great. If you have pets, you might want to add in the cost of pet sitting, or boarding. I know with my dog on our last trip it was $350. including his annual physical, so I consider it a cost of our trip.

hilton grand vacation club -skyauction- 726.00

2 adults - 2 teen boys - 7 nights

air = $380 (paid)
hotel = $1030 (2 rooms - grosvenor) ($140 paid)
rental car = $120
5 day park hoppers (4)= $880 (paid)
PI tickets (4) = $60 (paid)
DQ tickets (4) = $84 (paid)
food (out & in room) = $1000
tips = ~$75 (not including restaurant tips)
Souvenirs = $200 (from StarWars wkend)
enight = $50
home airport parking = $32

total = $3911

I also plan to take an extra $200 for my budget busters. I'm hoping to make it completely through this vacation without charging anything. When I had to charge the air and room deposit I made an on line payment to my credit card so when the charge hit it would zero out.

Now that I've added it all up I'm thinking of all the other things I could do with that much money. Oh well, this is probably going to be the last trip to WDW with my son so it's cheap at any price. It won't be long before he's on his own and he doesn't crave WDW every year like he used to. Next trip we'll probably be back at US/IOA.

Oh well, a little over two weeks to go!

Carolyn

air = $380 (paid)

May I ask how you got such a great rate for plane tickets? We are flying out of Greensboro but would gladly travel further for a better deal.

5 day park hoppers (4)= $880 (paid)

Where did you buy your tickets at or from? I can't get 4 day park hoppers for that price!

DQ tickets (4) = $84 (paid)

Same question as above. This sounds like a great deal!

Thank you!!!

Well we have a trip coming up in June and here is how we did..
June 10th thru 13th Just to get our fix...
Just 2 adults...
Airfare 2 r/t nonstop tixs from Boston on Song $269.00 Total got in on a fare sale...

Annual pass renewal ... Expired in May but went in Jan and Feb.
and several other trips was well worth it..
Cost $350.00 x 3 = $700.00 +- a few dollars

Just purchased from Ebay 4 Meal vouchers Good for dinners
$75.00 other meals one will be at the Flying fish and they do not take the voucher... $130.00 is what we spend there abouts..

Lodging

Rented Dvc points from another member for a stay at the Boardwalk first night of 3 $130.00 and the other2 night are at Wilderness lodge A/p rate 2 nights= $310.00

Transportation Tiffany town car $90.0 plus tip $100.00
Dislike Mears little less but not worth it IMO...

total $ 1849.00 So I guess if I take out the cost of the annual pass and prorate the price per day it would be about $25.00 per day for admission for us.. if I use the times I know we will be going.. and some we dont.... would get us down to
the new total $1149.00

For along weekend but will have passes for future trip in October long weekend...
And in November when we Give our points to My Brothers family to stay at the Boardwalk with us, and 3 nephews for the trip for his family... 5 nights

Up until January this year I was planning a trip for November19-November27 2004. Our trip is postponed until bills are paid, DH is back to earning his previous salary and I have the ability to start saving again.

Here is what I had budgeted:

1a. Transportation - gas & tolls, driving from PA to FL
1b. Transportation - airfare, an alternate plan if I could find cheap flights, plus the cost of parking at the airport
2a. Lodging - 1 overnight stay each direction during travel
2b. Lodging - 8 nights - 4 @ Disney Value Resort, 4 @ Resort closer to Universal and Sea World
2c. Tips for housekeeping, etc.
3a. Park Admissions - 4-day PH for WDW, 2-day/2-park for USO and single day for SW
3b. Park Admissions - parking at USO & SW (WDW on-site stay includes parking at theme parks)
4. Dining - review menu prices at www.allearsnet.com
5. Souvenirs
6. fees for other incidentals - i.e. buckets of fish to feed the dolphins at SW

Flying out of RDU on Southwest. I watch their sight for sales. Whenever one comes up I adjust my dates to fit. I think my cost was $39 each way plus fees. I had to add a day to our trip to take advantage of the fare (what a shame!). I like the feature on their sight which gives you a calendar if your travel dates are flexible. I'm actually located between RDU & the Greensboro airport but find better flight times & cost at RDU. I'll be interested in seeing what Independence Air will be offering out of Greensboro in the future.

Where did you buy your tickets at or from? I can't get 4 day park hoppers for that price!

AAA - 5 day hopper at $220 each. I don't remember what the 4 day hopper cost but less than $200. I purchased these recently and my local office still had tickets at the old rate prior to price increase. They sell these out first and then when they buy new tickets they increase their price.

Same question as above. This sounds like a great deal!

DQ & PI tickets - special deal thru Mousesavers newsletter. It may still be available. These really were great prices.

Thank you!!!

Well, I sat up late last night crunching numbers. I guess that's what comes from being a member of the "Disney Planning Chronic Insomniacs"! :hyper:

So, my total is hovering around $6000. I have not included food or meals, yet. We will be cooking in our cabin, so that will be a money saver I hope! We have 8 people traveling, with not everyone there at the same time. Some of my group could only come for a few days at a time, but there will be four of us who will be there for the duration.

Here goes....

$1456 ------------------7dPHP from Hotwire (4 adults, one child)
400--------------------AP (for myself, for room discount-great!)
528--------------------(2) 5dPHP with 4 plusses
111--------------------(2) US/IOA AAA deal
165--------------------2 nights at POFQ
2404--------------------14 nights at FW cabins
13--------------------$50 cert. for Nascar Cafe
44--------------------4 Q & C Vouchers
446-------------------Airfare of DH and DD, and other DD
590-------------------Golf cart for 14 days (sorry, we have to do it)
_________

$6157-------------------costs before leaving home, not including souvenirs, groceries, gasoline

A 16 night vacation for my WHOLE family---------PRICELESS!!!!!!!

Sorry, forgot to add in 4 tickets for Sea World with Rapid Rewards discount, about $190?

Here's what I have so far:

Disney Package (based on 2004 prices, as close as I can get right now, includes 6 nights at ASMo and UPH) - $1637.55--DH saving for this one and the plane tickets

Food - $140 per day x 7 days - $980

Souveniers (I'm guessing here) $200 total

Towncar to and from MCO - $90

Tips for mousekeeping, ttc driver $35 (may be more, depends on what I can afford)

Airfare - DH and I will use FF miles, may have to buy both kids' tickets $400 (may be lower if we can get almost 2-yo's ticket cheaper--DH also saving for this)

2 nights at airport hotels, one the night before we go to WDW, the other the night before we fly home - $225

I love seeing everyone elses budgets. It helps me feel less guilty about the money I'm spending. :teeth:

Mine wouldn't be as expensive if I didn't let my son bring his friend along every trip. Renting that extra room is a must but a real budget buster! That's not counting the extra airfare, food, and park ticket. They've gotten to the point where they start asking me where we're going for summer vacation shortly after New Year's. Now my sister is talking about taking a day and going to US/IOA to ride the new Mummy ride. $$$

I just keep telling myself it's going to be loads of fun and I've earned it. The people at work are beginning to talk. Something about me mumbling to myself.

Hope everyone's trip is magical.

Round trip Airlines- direct flight from Dayton to MCO (a must for small children) - 200.00 x 4 = 800.00 (pd)

Town Car roundtrip - 80.00 + tip = 100.00

7 night/8day Garden View Polynesian Resort - 7/5 deal includes passes for (2) adults - 2300.00 (pd)

Food (one adult and two small children, they usually share) - 600.00

Spending Money - 400.00

Total = 4200.00

**My mother (the other adult) is giving me 1100.00 before we go...so my total is 3100.00.

The food budget might be a little high, as our PS's the girls will eat free and when we eat a large breakfast we usually just snack a little during the day. But it's better safe than sorry.

The spending money budget is probably high because the girls got souveniers last year that will carry over this year such as:

Autograph books - we won't start new ones just get autographs they didn't get last year.

Mickey Mouse Sunglasses, and Minnie Mouse Hats.

Additionally, they have money in savings (25.00 a piece) that they can take to buy something.

I'll probably come back with money, that's always a good thing!! Just want to make sure I have enough.

Dh and myself, no children.

My original budget before we left was $1,300 as follows:

All Star Sports Resort 5 nights $330
Hotel 1 night Ft. Lauderdale $39.50
Hotel 1 night St. Petersburg $38.50
4 days Disney Park tickets play 4 days Florida Resident $233
2 major league baseball games for 2 adults, parking, souveniers $79
Food (restaurants off site, at Disney, grocery shopping for the room) $300
Gas and tolls $200
Miscellaneous $70
----------------------------
Budget $1,300

We were at Disney from May 16 - May 20, one night and morning in Ft. Lauderdale and one night and morning in St. Petersburg on May 21 and May 22.

When I got home and added everything together the grand total was $1,256.00!!!

Woohooo! We made it. I kept a price diary of all purchases and expenses. It was scary about half way through and then it was exciting towards the end to see if we would make it. We are budget travellers!

If you're interested check this site on gas prices (either for your own location, your traveling route and Orlando when you arrive):

We don't have a WDW trip planned yet, although I'm thinking in a few years, BUT I just wanted to share this with you all so you can feel GOOD about your budgets...

We must travel from Hawaii (yeah, I know I don't get much sympathy for living here) to Orlando. The airfare will probably be in the $600+ range per person!

So if I can't swing a deal or use FFM, I have spent almost $2,000 before I even get to the hotel (or vacation rental home, as the case may be). Ack!:(

So your budgets look pretty GOOD to me!:teeth:

Thanks for sharing your info. It will help me when I start preparing my WDW trip for DS' 8th birthday!

Mad4themouse.

Very nice on the budget there. You seem to be in every post I click on these days. Either because we have interest in the same questions or because you post to every thread in the budget board so obviously you have a reply in the ones I read. The only adjustment I would make to that, and you look like you are under budget anyway would be the souvenirs. There's no way we couldn make it 11 days on 500 dollars. Even if the children are buying their own stuff and your husband doesn't like to shop $500 should not be enough for you alone. I know you are nuts about the mouse and I think you deserve some nice stuff to remember your trip by after all of your planning. Our entire spending for last years trip was around $3500(that included everything much like yours, all the details) and nearly $1400 was for sourvenirs, $110 on pictures (The CM kind...Chef Mickeys, MK entrance, etc...) alone, and that was in 7 1/2 days. Maybe you don't shop like my wife, but we had one receipt alone at world of disney that was nearly $500.

How are you getting a minivan for only $117? I've got one for 4 days in early June (not over a weekend) with priceless code and dweb product code at National. That was the best I could get at $179.37. I've been checking for weeks for a better rate.

I didn't list my prices in my original post. I thought the OP just wanted to know what to include in a budget. And, as I have re-worked my budget in an attempt to start saving again (sometime in the future), and because I lost my Excel file when our PC crashed two weeks ago (thank goodness I had a version on CDRom), here is how it breaks down.

3 adults (parents and teen child)
Transportation.....$170
-gas & tolls, driving from PA to FL (with gas at $2.00/gallon)
Lodging.....$570
(1 night Days Inn on the trip down, 3 nights Park Inn, 4 nights Pop Century, 1 night Howard Johnson on the way home) Amount includes tips.
Park Admissions.....$1111
(advanced purchase prices for 4-day WDW PH, Universal/IoA 2-day/2-park and single day for Sea World) - includes parking fees at USO and SW.
Dining.....$750
(includes one character breakfast and one character dinner and tips). I still need to figure out breakfast for days at USO & SW.
Souvenirs & other.....$200
(open to adjustment)

Grand Total.....$2800

It is me and my 2 boys- 12 &13 (3 total). When preplanning, I budget $1200.00 per person for a 10 day trip. I always seem time after time to stay reasonably close to this figure- usually not going over by more than a hundred dollars or so. In the mid 90's I used $1000.00 per person- I have had to adjust it a bit.

This seems to cover air, rental car, value resort, AP for me, park media for boys, food, tips, and souveniers (we are pin traders). Cirque, Gospel Brunch, and Character meals usually are what put me over- if I go over at all. If I don't go over, the money gets put towards the next trip :)

I decided to post this as a reasonable guideline to help others save for future WDW trips. Next year (because of gas prices) I anticipate higher airfare and higher expense for the car- so I have moved the amount to 125.00 per day per person. I don't leave for this trip for 10 days (June 7th), but I have almost 25% of the money saved for 2005 because I have created this guideline to help me save :) Hope the idea helps some of you to develop your own set of guidelines:)

Blessings,

A friend and I will be at WDW September 1 through September 7 (6 nights, 7 days), but two of the days are “travel” days, so we won’t do much of anything or spend much on those days.

We both have roundtrip vouchers for airfare on Southwest (Rapid Rewards program), so there is just some kind of fee we each had to pay when booking the flight. The flight originates near her home (LAX) around 5:30 a.m., so her DH will drive her to the airport ($20 parking total) and I’ll catch a shuttle to and from PHX for the next leg of the flight (6:30 a.m.--$60 roundtrip including tip). Since we’ll be in the air for five hours (six hours for her), we won’t be spending much money! We will make a grocery stop on the way from MCO to WDW, which will be about $20 of our food & incidentals budget. After checking in, we’ll probably have dinner off site (another $25 total), then go to EPCOT to watch IllumiNations. That puts us $5 under our total Food & Incidentals ($50 total per travel day) budget for the day. And $20 of that is for breakfast & snacks for the balance of the trip!

We already have our annual passes from last year, so no direct cost is associated with these.

Our value resort is just under $55 per night with tax (value season, AP rate—I hope!). Although we prefer to stay on site, we’ll Priceline lodgings off site if AP rates don’t materialize.

Our rental car is the rate available on Alamo without discounts. I’m keeping an eye out for discounts and will rebook if necessary. We may Priceline a rental car in the end, if it seems feasible. It’s a holiday weekend, so it may be the best we can do. Unless fuel exceeds $4 per gallon, our budget should be fine. We won’t have to pay for WDW parking whether we stay on site or off site, as we have Annual Passes.

We typically spend $25 to $30 daily each for food and incidentals (water, etc.), but we want to do two WDW restaurant meals this trip. Probably one buffet and either LeCellier or Yachtsman’s Steakhouse. We’ve eaten at LeCellier (very good), so we may try to PS Yachtsman’s Steakhouse after we arrive.

Neither of us is buying clothing or shoes before the trip, and probably won’t spend much on anything except batteries (for mini-fans & cameras) and sunscreen. We’ll just refill our travel containers and be ready to go! Although our wardrobes are very different (hers is very casual, mine is business casual), we don’t see any reason to buy additional clothing we don’t need!

Description Total Cost
Airfare 20.00
Annual Passes 0.00
Ground Transport & Parking (home) 60.00
Value Resort (AP rate, value season) 330.00
Rental Car (no discounts) 180.00
Fuel & Tolls 40.00
Food & Incidentals ($50 x 2 x 6 days) 300.00
Pre-trip incidentals 100.00

TOTAL COST 1,350.00

We’ve allocated $25 each for our final day, as our flight home is at 2:30 p.m. Basically breakfast and some snacks for the flight, as Southwest is no-frills.

Obviously, if we had to pay full airfare, we would be looking at an additional $250 for me and $400 for her, which would increase our budget a bit. Still not, too shabby!

(Edit note: Okay, I give up! I had a nice little Excel table, but it won't transfer, so this does not look great!)

Oh boy! Well, since I am paying for this vacation in full with OT money, I guess it doesn't matter if hubby sees me typing this out. For DH, myself and DD (12)

Rental Car.......................$340 (14 days - already paid!)
Gas................................. $400 (Chicago to Orlando..ouch)
Board for dog..................$500 (he's also getting fixed while there. too many females in heat around here)
4 day hoppers.................$606 (already paid!)
POFQ...............................$851 (7 nights - already paid!)
Food................................$800
On the road motels.........$200

I didn't budget for souvenirs but have kept a $1000 nest egg saved just for fun money (I refuse to use my credit cards on this vacation...have gotten into too much trouble in the past). And after calculating this I have decided that I work way too much OT and really deserve this vacation. If I missed something, please let me know!
